Red Devils top Phillips

VINA – The Vina varsity boys basketball team improved to 2-0 in area play with a 12-2 victory against Phillips Tuesday.
The tenth-ranked Red Devils took control early by scoring three runs in the first inning. They added four runs in the third and five runs in the fourth.
Phillips scored a run in both the fourth and fifth innings, but it was not enough to keep the game from ending due to the 10-run rule.
Morgan McCarley pitched a complete game, striking out eight and giving up two hits.
Adam Pharr led the Red Devils with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.
Patrick White had a single and a double and drove in four runs.
Ethan Pharr had an RBI single and Cody Renfroe added a single.
Vina resumes area play Monday with a game at Belgreen before returning home to host the Bulldogs Tuesday.
