Making a pie

There is something about a pie that sweetens up a gathering.
You can offer almost any kind of pie and you will make most people anxious for a bite. You have probably watched someone you know preparing a pie. It is similar to a work of art. Many cooks mold their pastry as they place it into the pie dish and make a filling, some are bright, colorful and tasty. And when they add the egg meringue they swirl it into a foam of soft snow like quality that looks like a soft mountain surrounded by puffy white clouds.
Some pies can be whipped up easily by taking advantage of frozen pie shells or refrigerated pie shells purchased at your favorite grocery. When rushed you might want to prepare fruit pies by using the canned pie fillings. We use them sometimes. Peach, apple, strawberry, and blueberry pie filling can be kept on your shelf and used when you don't have opportunity or time to prepare a pie that takes a little longer. That is what I like about pies, they are easily made and can be made quicker. Many fillings can be easily assembled by using Cool Whip added to other ingredients and poured into a pie shell or Graham crust. Graham crust are very good with these kinds of pies and come prepared also. Graham crust gives them a special taste.
When I was a little girl Mama,Grandmother, made the most wonderful raisin pie. Mama was a precious lady of few words. Her actions let you know what an angel she was. That raisin pie was probably prepared for me because they couldn't get me to eat much in early years. You know when we need to be stronger sometimes doctors tell you to eat foods high in iron. Raisins are, so through the years it has come to me that this was another way Mama carried out one of her angel jobs by making the raisin pie for me to help me be stronger.
We have been eating a lot of Apple Crumb pie lately. The apples are so good for you . If you try this be sure to use Golden Delicious apples or Granny Smith.
Experiment making your pies. You can add ingredients you enjoy or withhold those you don't like. Find our your family's favorites and prepare to make them happy. Enjoy!
