Wayne Moody, 67, of Bear Creek, Ala. passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at UAB Hospital. He was born in Winston County and lived the majority of his life in Bear Creek. He gave thirty-two years of service to the various Piggly Wiggly stores in the area. He was a member of Bear Creek No. 1 Baptist Church and a former member of the Bear Creek Rescue Squad.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with George Jones, Richard Crumpton and Stanley Adair officiating. Burial was at Bear Creek No. 1 Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jesse Flanagan, Kenneth Gravitt, Charlie Moody, Robert Moody, Jason Moody, Jimmy Pierce, Mark Doss and George Elliott.
Honorary pallbearers were Tony Batchelor, Don Vickery and James Harold Moody.
He was a devoted and loving father to Lisa Jo Moody of Bear Creek, and husband to Linda Sue Hill Moody who precedes him in death. He was a dedicated son-in-law to Nora Dell Hill, as well as a comfort to his brothers, James Moody and wife, Jean, Troy Moody and wife, Brenda, Travis Moody and Charles Moody.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Elzie Trenton and Ruby Moody.

David Eugene Winsted, 60, of Phil Campbell passed away on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. James McCullar and Bro. Wayne Boyles officiating. Interment will be in Spruce Pine Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zackie and Lorene Winsted; siblings, Melvin Winsted, Douglas Winsted, Floette Motes and Velma Welch.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Winsted; son, Chris Winsted and wife, Michelle; daughter, Shelia Gasaway; grandchildren, Kayla Plunkett and husband, Reed, Josh Graham, Zackary Winsted and Jacob Winsted; brothers, Alford Winsted, Delano Winsted, William Winsted, Audrey O’Kelley and Mazel Saint; and several nieces and nephew.
The pallbearers will be Chris Winsted, Roger Cornelius, Gary Musgrave, Reed Plunkett, Shelia Gasaway and Dennis Welch. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Graham, Randy Motes, Andy Motes and Charles Thompson.

Paralee Inez Johnson, 90, of Red Bay passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 at Generations in Red Bay. She was born April 16, 1919 in Franklin County to John and Maggie Hammock. She was the oldest member of Community Center Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Coye Marbutt officiating. Burial was at Red Bay City Cemetery.
She is survived by one sister, Willie Day, of Athens, Ala.; one sister-in-law, Edna James and husband, Houston, of Vina; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Johnson; her parents; one brother, Golden Hammock and his wife, Jean; and brother-in-law, Reggie Day.
Pallbearers were Terry James, Jerry James, Brandon Brazil, Tommy Craig, Phillip Hammock and Larry Hammock. Honorary pallbearer will be Todd James and Chris Brazil.
Grace Elliott Scott

Grace Elliott Scott, 92, of Red Bay passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 after an extended illness at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home in Florence, Ala. She was born Jan. 28, 1918 in Mississippi to Tarpley and Dena Nelson Elliott. She was a member of New Providence Primitive Baptist Church.
Funeral services were Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clinton Barnett, Rev. Dean Timbes and Rev. Bobby Elliott officiating. Burial was at Little Flock Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Glover, of Florence; three granddaughters, Donna Rowe and husband, Rick, Rhonda Ray and friend, Wayne Rainey, and Dena Ray; four great-grandchildren, Brandy Kimbrough, Blake Rowe, Kyle Kelley and Brooke Ray; sister, Una McNiel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Scott; great grandson, Jacob Kelley; five brothers, Dexter, Dayton, Edward, Fred and Aubrey Elliott; three sisters, Minnie Stricklin, Mamie Timbes and Lula Mae Elliott; son-in-law, Morris Glover; and her parents.
Pallbearers were Rick Rowe, Blake Rowe, Kyle Kelley, Wayne Rainey, Billy Elliott and Ronnie Timbes. Honorary pallbearers were Willie Stricklin, Morris Timbes, Charles Elliott, Tommy South, Larry South and Walter Epps.

Stephen Eric Moore

Stephen Eric Moore, 41, of Red Bay passed away Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 23, 1968 in Alabama to William Stephen “Billy” and Katrine Gober Moore. He was the head dispatcher for the Red Bay Police Department. He was a member of the First Baptist church in Red Bay where he taught Sunday school and worked in the AWANA program. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Red Bay with Rev. Larry Hill and Rev. James Holland officiating. Burial was in Red Bay City Cemetery.
He is survived by four children, Mary-Elizabeth, Samuel Stephen, Jean Marie Katrina and Nathaniel Colin Moore, all of Red Bay; and his parents.
Pallbearers were Micky Ashford, Chris Russell, Hank Jackson, Bill Weatherford, Norris Paul Rogers and John Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Red Bay High School Class of 1986.

Deborah “Debbie” Henderson Grissom, 60, Spruce Pine, Ala. passed away Mon., Feb. 22, 2010 at her residence.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend.
She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and member of North Russellville Baptist Church. She was employed by Wal-Mart.
Funeral service will be Thurs. Feb. 25, 2010, 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville with DeWayne Crumley officiating. Burial will follow in Knights of Pythias Cemetery. Visitation will be Wed. from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include husband, James A. Grissom, Spruce Pine; daughters, Dana McBride and husband, David, Sheffield; Tara Bates and husband, James, Warner Robins, Ga.; sister, Cindy Ragan and husband, Chris, Russellville; brother, Butch Henderson and wife, Cherri, Birmingham; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chris Ragan, Sean Taylor, Trey Taylor, Alan Henderson, James Bates and Rusty Plylar.
She was preceded in death by father, James Henderson and mother, Sarah Randolph Henderson.

Mary Ellen Springhart, 85, of Russellville passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 at Russellville Hospital. She was born on September 5, 1942 in Pittsburg, Ill.
Visitation was from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010 at Blue Funeral Home, Marion, IL. Funeral services followed at 2 p.m. in the chapel. The burial took place at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion, Ill..
Ms. Springhart was preceeded in death by her parents, John and Amanda Mifflin; husband, Ochil Springhart; three sons, Ronnie Rogers, Carl Rogers and Eddie Springhart; sisters, Madge, Ollie and Betty; brother, John Mifflin.
She is survived by her two daughters, Brenda Cleveland and husband, Archie, of Bradley, IL; Jeanne Cochran of Russellville; son, Richard Springhart and wife, Gladys, of Marion, IL; brother, Walter Mifflin; grandchildren, Melissa and David Hamilton, Seth Mattox, Amanda, Allie, Roger, Jeremy, Josh Cochran, Frankie Springhart, Angie Taylor and Pattie Gaston; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Springhart was a retired supervisor for the State of Illinois at Manteno Health Center. She also served as secretary beside her husband of Local 1563, AFL-CIO, AFSME before his death at which time she took over as president of the union.

Billy Jerrol Strickland, 65, of Red Bay passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Helen Keller Hospital. He was born January 20, 1945 in Haleyville to Odis and Othel Frederick Strickland. He was an employee of Tiffin Motor Homes and a member of the Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church. He was a Veteran in the U.S, Army serving in Vietnam.
Visitation services were held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday February 22, 2010 at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 inside the chapel with Bro. Mark McCraney officiating. Burial services were held at Berry Cemetery.
Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife of 39 years Glinda Strickland of Red Bay; children, Sandy McCoy and husband, Ian, of Lonejack, MO, Rodney Jerrol Strickland and wife, Tasha, of Red Bay and Tina Williams and husband, Brad of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren, Kristen, Kullen, Blake-Lee, Karli, Brock and Ethan; father, Odis Strickland; sisters, Clara Hester and husband, Kelly, of Red Bay and Kay Fennell and husband, James of Belmont, MS; brother, Don Strickland and wife Sherry, of Halltown.
Pallbearers were James Dean Evetts, Jacob Pfeiffer, Josh Pfeiffer, Brandon Brazil, Joe Hardin and Jonathan Humphres. Honorary Pallbearers were Dexter Evetts, Brad Williams and Ian McCoy.
