PC falls to Lexington, ready for Red Devils

PHIL CAMPBELL – The opportunity for Phil Campbell to upset ninth-ranked Lexington was washed away with the torrential rains that postponed the game last Friday.
Phil Campbell trailed 20-8 when the rains came, but the game was much closer than what the score indicated.
When the two teams resumed play Monday to finish the final 7:55 of the game, Lexington added another score to increase its lead and earn a 27-8 victory.
Now the Bobcats have to rebound from the disappointing loss and prepare for Vina, their homecoming opponents.
Despite the records – Vina is 1-3 while Phil Campbell is 0-4 – it should be a good game as both teams are coming off impressive performances.
The Red Devils lost to seventh-ranked R.A. Hubbard 36-0 last week. Many fans might not think a shutout loss is impressive, but Hubbard had averaged more than 50 points per game in its previous two wins.
Both the Bobcats and Red Devils will be playing for pride this week.
Phil Campbell's only victory last year was against Vina. If the Red Devils are not motivated by revenge heading into this game, they will definitely be looking to build momentum as they head into the second half of the season holding a chance at their first playoff berth since 1998.
Phil Campbell will also be looking to build momentum as the Bobcats have already faced two of the top teams in their region during the past few weeks.
The game begins at 7 p.m.
