RED BAY – Red Bay will try to extend it current win streak against Cherokee to four games Friday and keep pace with Lexington for the lead in Class 2A, Region 8.
The Tigers are 3-0 overall and 2-0 in region play. Cherokee is 1-2 overall and 1-1 in region action.
Both team have played the same region opponents to this point in the season.
Red Bay has defeated Westminster Christian Academy 38-17 and Hatton 33-6.
Cherokee hasn't fared as well. The Indians squeaked past Hatton 23-20 and lost to WCA 7-0.
Red Bay has had a potent offense this season and has averaged 35 points per game. Cherokee's defense has allowed 23 points per game.
The Tiger defense has also played well, giving up only 7.7 points per game. The Indian offense is averaging only 12 points per game.
A win is crucial for the Tigers to keep their hopes of a region title in their own hands. Lexington is the only other team in Region 8 that has not lost a region game.
The game begins at 7 p.m. at Cherokee.
