RED BAY – One of the most vibrant towns of its size will celebrate its 102nd birthday this weekend.
The annual Red Bay Founder's Fest will mark the town's 102nd year of incorporation this Saturday. The town of Red Bay was incorporated on July 17, 1907.
Years ago, the town began celebrating in September because of cooler weather.
Saturday's festivities will kick off in Bay Tree Park across from City Hall and will include crafts, food, games and music.
Main Street will be lined with blow-up castles and carnival food.
The food will include different types of pork rinds, ribbon fries, funnel cakes, corn dogs, hot dogs, boiled peanuts, shaved ice and lemonade.
The Franklin County Cattlemen's Association will be selling rib eye steak sandwich meals at the senior center.
Cattlemen member Orland Britnell said the sell would be one of the largest days of the year for the organization.
Different crafts will be on display offering items that will include soaps, baby blankets, hair bows, embroidery, caps, air-brushed T-shirts, car tags and Christian-themed apparel.
The Red Bay fire department will sponsor an antique car, truck and boat show, and several nonprofits also will be present. Musical performances will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include Billy Boyd, Brook Hall, Amanda Kent, Cedar Hill Steppers, Community Center Baptist Drama Team, Chris Smith and Unity Four, Kathy Ivy, Vina Baptist Drama Team, The Bernies, Heaven's Anthem, Latosha Raper, Hannah Kent, Old Time Blue Grass Gospel and others.
