THS still seeking a victory

THARPTOWN – The Tharptown and Waterloo football programs have quite a bit in common.
Both are young squads with little experience in region play.
The Wildcats and Cougars both began their first year of region competition last year.
Both teams are without a region win this season, and both teams need a win to stay in the playoff hunt.
Waterloo opened the season with a 64-26 blowout against Woodville before dropping a region contest against Shoals Christian 48-19 last week.
Tharptown, with region losses to Phillips and Vina, is in more desperate need of a win.
With only six teams in Class 1A, Region 8, it will be difficult for a team with three region losses to earn a playoff spot.
Tharptown looked good in spots against Vina last week, but miscues led to several Vina scores, creating a deficit the Wildcats could not overcome late in the game.
The game, which begins at 7 p.m., will be played at Tharptown.
