New school program a plus for us all
By Staff
The Russellville city schools will introduce a new Jr. ROTC program next week when classes resume.
It will be the first time Russellville schools have had a program of this kind.
To lead the Jr. ROTC, the system has hired Col. Norman Lier, a 22-year military veteran.
One conversation with Lier and he seems to be an obvious choice.
A group of local veterans, including Russellville Mayor Troy Oliver, worked with school officials to get the program started.
This unique addition to the school system will not only be a benefit for students, it will help us develop a better community.
Character lessons, hard work and discipline can only help our society grow and thrive.
There could not be a better or more valuable time to get this started.
