Ozbirn more than worthy of latest recognition
By Staff
Franklin County Archives and Research director Chris Ozbirn was awarded the Emma Sansom Award last week from the Alabama Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans for her work helping locate and decorate Confederate veterans' graves.
She was more than worthy of this award, but she should be thanked by many other groups as well.
Working to honor Confederate veterans is only one small portion of her duties.
She has helped countless people learn about their family's past and provided lasting memorials to others who might have otherwise been forgotten.
She has worked on a volunteer basis to provide the county with a resource that we can all be proud of.
She is most deserving of this award, but it is only a small token for what she's worth to this county.
