The initial steps of the Russellville downtown revitalization project are well underway and its important that motorists take notice of what is happening around them.
As part of the first steps to give the intersections a makeover, the traffic lights along Jackson were taken down Tuesday morning.
Police Chief Chris Hargett warns motorist to continue to use caution when traveling along Jackson Avenue.
Jackson now has three four-way stops. The four-way stops are located at Madison, Lawrence and Cotaco streets."
The other intersections along Jackson are simply stops signs for the motorist traveling along the side streets. Jackson has the right of way at these places.
The intersection at Coffee Avenue and Lawrence Street will also be a four-way stop.
The four-way stops at Lawrence, Madison and Cotaco will be replaced with new decorative traffic signals once the new construction is complete.
It is important that we all use caution as we get used to these changes.
