The Russellville Police Department presented their department's new website to the public Monday night.
Police Chief Chris Hargett said the website will better connect the department with the public, and will highlight different areas of the department.
"We have been working on this project for several months," Hargett said. "We had a website with the city's website several years ago, but the website has been discontinued."
Lt. Mike Prince spearheaded the website project, and has been working to get the website up and running for several weeks.
Hargett said the new website will connect the department with the public by allowing them to explore the different areas of the department including dispatch, patrol, and investigations.
"The website will also have an area where the public can submit anonymous tips," Hargett said.
The website will also contain information for the department including the Chaplin's information, and will feature a kid's page.
"The kid's page goes to coloring website," Hargett said.
The website will also provides the public with information on the department's reserve and explorer programs, and will offer information on employment opportunities within the department.
"We want to employment part of the website to coincide with city hall to let people know when we are accepting applications," Hargett said. "We hope to one day offer the capability of downloading applications, but that feature has not been added just yet."
Hargett said the website will also feature a secure side so that officers can stay in contact with the department while off work or on patrol.
Hargett said the website also features links to important websites such as Safeplace, the Alabama Crime Victims website, Shoals area Crimestoppers, Most Wanted, and the sex offenders website.
