BELGREEN – Red Bay's offense looked like a well oiled machine Thursday as it racked up 18 runs against Belgreen, but it was the performance of sophomore Zach Hubbard that his Tiger teammates will remember for quite a while.
Hubbard retired 15 of the 17 batters he faced as he recorded a no-hitter for the Tigers in Red Bay's 18-0 victory in five innings.
"Zach always had good control," said Red Bay coach Donnie Hastings. "He is starting to throw harder now that he is getting older."
Hubbard finished the game with six strikeouts and one walk.
The Tigers jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the top of the first inning.
They added to the lead with a 3-run homer from Chase Lindsey in the second.
Red Bay added six runs in the third as the team batted around. The Tigers added five more runs in the fourth and batted around again.
Belgreen did not have a batter reach base until the bottom of the fourth inning when Will Washington grounded to shortstop Ethan Blanton. Blanton's throw to first was off target, drawing first baseman Bradley Patterson off the bag.
Patterson caught the ball, but was unable to apply the tag to Washington before he safely reached first.
Hubbard issued his only walk of the game in the fifth inning.
Dillon Massey led the Tiger offense with three doubles while Lindsey had the homer and a pair of singles. Kevin Hastings, Patterson and Matt Montgomery had two singles each.
Eli Cox doubled and Cody Armstrong, Chance Wooten and Blanton each hit a single for Red Bay.

Lindsey hit a home run and Andy Thorn doubled, but it was not enough as the Tigers fell to Hackleburg 11-4.
Hastings added a pair of doubles while Cox, Patterson and Massey each hit a single for Red Bay.

Thorn homered and hit a single to drive in three runs as the Tigers downed Hackleburg 11-5.
