Martha J. Nesmith, 80, of Gary, Ind., formerly of Haleyville, Ala., passed away Feb. 24, 2009.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 28 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville. Burial followed in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
Mary Kathleen "Kathy" Csehek

Mary Kathleen "Kathy" Csehek, 55, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Russellville, Ala., passed away at the Cleveland Clinic on Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 4 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel and interment will be in Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rachel Prince.
She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly, Tammy and husband Rich and Connie; special daughters, Vickie Maxfield and Nina; father, Hoyt Prince; sisters, Connie, Diana and Michelle; grandchildren, Dillon, Paige, Samantha and Mark Jr.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Billy Joe Scott

Billy Joe "Jank" Scott, 69, passed away Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at the Red Bay Hospital.
He was born in Alabama to William "Bill" and Shellie Coats Scott. He was a member of Burnout Missionary Church. He served five years in the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from Reynolds after 31 years and served as a guard for Winco Securities for six years. He was a member of United Steel Workers No. 3833828.
Services were held Monday, March 2 at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Marty Guidry and Bro. Dan Hindman officiating. Burial was held in Burnout Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay assisted the family.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Catherine "Kay" Scott of Hodges; mother, Shellie Scott of Burnout; children, Danita Burleson and husband Keith of Vina, Karen Emerson and husband Dewayne and Brian Scott and wife Tara, all of Hodges; brothers and sisters, Louise Shewbart and husband Forbus of Burnout, Truman Scott and wife Jackie An, of Hodges, Charlotte Spearman of Muscle Shoals and Sue Leiser and husband Bert of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; grandchildren, Tamara, Emily, Joseph and Annie-Kayte; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and a special aunt and uncle, John and Ollie Gober.
Pallbearers were Crayton Lawler, Gary Williams, Kevin Scott, Kenny Vickery, Eddie Vickery and Eric Artrip. Honorary pallbearers were Kent Overton, Ryan Tackett, Mason Smith, Bobby Bowen and Wayne Rushing.
Billy R. Burns

Billy R. Burns, 56, of Golden, Miss., passed away Feb. 28, 2009, at the Sanctuary Hospice House.
He was born April 5, 1952, in Chattanooga, Tenn. to Bobby Ray and Mary Elizabeth Tucker Burns.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bobby Burns Jr.
Funeral services were held March 2, 2009, at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay with Bro. Marshall Green officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by his niece, Deborah Smith and husband Jerry of Dennis, Miss.; great-niece, Keshia Pharr and husband Brandon of Belmont Miss; great-nephews, Brad Smith and Austin Smith, both of Dennis, Miss.; uncles, Owen Burns of Golden, Miss., Gene Burns of Tremont, Miss., and Olen Burns of Olive Branch, Miss.; aunt, Reba White of Golden, Miss.; great-great-nephew, Peyton Pharr of Belmont, Miss.; and special friends, Roy and Ann Mayhall of Golden, Miss.
Pallbearers were Allen Mayhall, Ronnie Payne, Donnie Six, Ronnie Parker and James Ridge.
Marlin Wilson Belew

Marlin Wilson Belew, 70, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at his residence.
He was a lifetime resident of Franklin County and a retired local businessman. He was a member of Crestview Baptist Church.
Funeral services were Monday, March 2 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville with Bro. A.G. Stepp and Bro. Willard Templeman officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Memory Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Cooper and husband Jim; sons, Kenneth Belew and wife Tracy and Joel Belew and wife Paula; step-son, Jerry Sparks; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Cooper, Jamie Cooper, Kenney Belew, Bo Hovater, Greg Hovater and Scottie Hovater.
The family would like to thank Davita Dialysis Center and Helen Keller Hospital for their professional care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crestview Baptist Church in Russellville.
Jimmy W. Jackson

Jimmy W. Jackson, 71, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham.
He was a native of Franklin County and a member of First Baptist Church in Russellville. He was a graduate of Russellville High School and a member of the Class of 1957. He then attended Mississippi State University on a football scholarship.
He worked as a salesman for Sunshine Food Industry in Red Bay and was owner of the Piggly Wiggly grocery store and North Alabama Ice Company, both in Russellville, before his retirement. He enjoyed working in his garden, growing watermelons and taking his family to Orange Beach and Gatlinburg on vacation.
Funeral services were Monday, March 2 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville with Bro. Barry Holcomb, Bro. Gene Balding and Bro. Richard Parker officiating. Interment was in Spruce Pine Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Mildred Caudle, and his son, Mac Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Taylor Jackson, with whom he just celebrated 50 years of marriage; sons, Martin D. Jackson and wife Sheila of Russellville and Jim W. Jackson and wife Kim of Odenville; sister, Clara Hamilton and husband Ken of Decatur; step-brother, Bill Caudle of Mission, Texas; sister-in-law, Barbara Cain and husband Kenneth of Phil Campbell; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; aunts and uncles; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be members of the Jeff Bowling Sunday school class of First Baptist Church.
