Tharptown comes up short

THARPTOWN – The Tharptown varsity girls basketball team's first trip to the playoffs ended Thursday night with a 66-61 loss at Hazlewood during the sub-region round of the Class 1A playoffs.
The Lady Wildcats built an early 13-point lead, but Hazlewood chipped away and took the lead for good in the third quarter.
Kendra Baker led the Lady Wildcats with 24 points while Hollie Hines and Chelsea McCluskey added 14 points each.
It was the first trip to the sub-regional round of the playoffs for any team from Tharptown. The Lady Wildcats finished second in the Area Tournament to reach the sub-regional.
