A Phil Campbell man was killed Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle wreck.
The accident claimed the life of Samuel Tyrus Odom, 46, of Franklin 20. His wife, 43 year-old Michelle Odom, was seriously injured and taken to Huntsville Hospital.
Reports indicate the couple was traveling east on Alabama 24 when their bike collided with a 2001 Oldsmobile driven by 22-year-old Sabrina James, of Russellville. James was not injured in the accident.
Officials said James was traveling west on Alabama 24 and appeared to be attempting to turn south onto Franklin 424, which is old Alabama 24. The motorcycle struck the car on the vehicle's passenger side.
Samuel and Michelle Odom were both thrown off the motorcycle and over the vehicle.
The accident occurred at 12:05 p.m. and Franklin County Coroner Elzie Malone pronounced Odom dead at the scene at 12:35 p.m.
Officials at Huntsville Hospital said Tuesday that Michelle Odom is listed in critical condition in the facility's surgical trauma unit.
