Charles Ross Weatherford Jr.

Charles Ross Weatherford Jr., 70, of Vina, Ala., passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at University of Alabama-Birmingham Hospital in Birmingham.
He was born April 10, 1938, in Alabama to Charles Ross Weatherford Sr. and Mary Blyss Moody Weatherford. He was retired from Reynolds Metals Co. after 20 years and was currently employed by Cashion Thermoplastics in Red Bay.
He was a former mayor of Vina and former member of the Vina Water &Gas Board. He was a member of Vina First Baptist Church, Burleson Masonic Lodge and Aluminum Workers Local 220 Union and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Funeral services were Sunday, Feb. 1 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Rev. Larry Hill and Chuck Cashion officiating. Burial was in Burleson Cemetery in Vina.
He is survived by sons, Charles Ross Weatherford III and wife Lesia of Fayette and William Eugene Weatherford and wife Donna of Red Bay; and grandchildren, Charles Ross Weatherford IV and Katherine Grace Weatherford, both of Fayette, and William Gaither "Gath" Weatherford and Gracie Erin Weatherford, both of Red Bay.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Fancher Weatherford; his parents; and sister, Mary Irene Bullen.
Pallbearers were Brad Bolton, Thomas D. "Tommy" Williams Jr., Thomas Williams Sr., Quince Wright, Gary Umfress, Johnnie Weatherford, Norris P. Rogers and Derrick Killen. Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Williams, Wayne Waddle, Marty Crum and Chuck Cashion.

William Thomas "Tommy" Canida Jr., 58, of Russellville, Ala., passed from this life to his eternal home on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at his residence.
He was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather. He was a member of Muscle Shoals Baptist Church and Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 760 and was retired from Reynolds Metals after 21 years.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville with Bro. Joe Lenox and Bro. Doug Farris officiating. Interment was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
He is survived by his parents, William and Frances Canida of Russellville; son, Neal Canida and wife Sheree of Russellville; daughter, Janet Canida of Red Bay; sisters, Linda Mitchell and husband Robert of Russellville and Deborah Canida of Russellville; brothers, Jerry Canida and wife Kathy of Spruce Pine and Charlie Canida and wife Andrea of Russellville; special grandchildren who were his life, LaKreisha Dawn Canida and Justin Nelson Canida; special friend and companion, Martha Fuller; and 10 nieces and nephews.

Charles Murl Bryant, 78, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Russellville Hospital.
He owned his own business, Lion Station, and was a mechanic, volunteer fireman, carpenter and farmer.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m.Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville with Bro. Terry Bendall Sr. and Bro. Andy Gasque officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Memory Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Reed Bryant; parents, A.V. and Cecil Bryant; and brothers, Daniel Bryant, Doyle Bryant, Malon Bryant, Glen Bryant and Harold Bryant.
He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Sue Bendall and husband Terry Bendall Sr., Pasty Black and husband Johnny Black and Rhonda Joyce Holley and husband Bobby Holley, all of Russellville; son, Murl Junior Bryant of Russellville; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The pallbearers will be Terry Bendall Jr., Johnny Black Jr., Chad Andrew Holley, Kenneth Bryant, Charles Justin Bryant, Gerald Bryant, William Buddy Bryant and Andrew Channing Bendall. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Black Sr., Jimmy Taylor and Loyd Bryant.
