Frances N. Jones

Frances Norton Jones, 91, a resident for 58 years of Russellville, Ala., went to be with the Lord on Jan. 19, 2009.
After graduating from Auburn University, she worked for several years as an Alabama Extension Home Economist before becoming a homemaker in Russellville. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and contributed to the community through participation in the Book Lover's Study Club and the Cultura Garden Club.
The funeral service was Wednesday, Jan. 21 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville. Burial was in Pythias Cemetery in Russellville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Judge Fred H. Norton and Myrtle Ellis Norton; brothers, Harold Norton, Frank Norton and John Norton; sisters, Virginia Radney and Elizabeth Norton; her husband, Dr. T. Stratton Jones, Jr.; and one of her sons, Dr. Neil Norton Jones.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Thomas S. Jones, III and wife Gini; and five grandchildren, Brent Jones and wife Kelly, Anna Voss and husband Josh, Shelley Johnson and husband Mark, Alan Jones and Elizabeth Jones; and six great-grandchildren.
Thurmond Pennington

Thurmond Dale Pennington, 65, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at his residence.
He was a loving husband of 21 years and loving father and grandfather. He loved his family, and his grandchildren were his life. He was loved and will be missed by everyone. He was a member of Limerock Church of Christ.
The visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville with Bro. Donnie McGuire and Bro. Buddy Ellington. Interment will be in Lime Rock Cemetery in Ligon Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Margaret Pennington; his infant child; and brothers, Jimmy Pennington, Bill Pennington and R.L. Pennington.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Pennington; sons, Keith Pennington and wife Melinda, Randy Pennington, Keith Washington and wife Lisa, and Tim Washington and wife Barbara; daughter, Christy Dempsey; brothers, Leonard Pennington and Jerry Pennington and wife Alice; sisters, Fredia Searcy and husband Raymond, Denise Pennington, and Bobbie Gilbert; grandchildren, Justin Thompson, Brittney Stanfield, William Washington, Heather Washington, Brandon Stanfield, Melanie Pennington and Courtney Pennington; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers will be Justin Thompson, Wiley Hamilton, Sammy Washington, Buddy Washington, James Jackson and Orvil Wellington. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Blount, Orlin McCollum and Vernon Sartain.
Charles "C.L." Denham

Charles Lewis "C.L." Denham, 86, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Huntsville Hospital.
He was retired from Southern Railroad. He was a member of Sheffield Masonic Lodge and was of the Baptist faith. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all.
The visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville. The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at Tyner Cemetery in Chattanooga, Tenn. Officiating will be Bro. Charlie James.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Arthur and Lula Bell Denham.
He is survived by his wife Betty Fuller Denham; daughter, Kathy Childers of Paducah, Ky.; son, Clayton Denham of Columbia, Tenn.; three grandson; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
