Historic day ahead of us all on Tuesday

By Staff
Staff Editorial
This week will mark one of the most memorable in our nation's history.
Barack Obama, a youthful, energetic former senator from Illinois will be sworn in as our nation's president, making him the first African-American to hold the nation's highest office.
It is a day that millions have dreamed of. One that millions thought would never come.
This nation has moved so far beyond the boundaries that used to divide it, that a new generation of Americans hardly knows of the cruel and hurtful days of segregation.
We urge all Franklin Countians, regardless of race, political background or your thoughts on Obama personally, to sit back and reflect on how far we have come as a country.
There is more to do, but this certainly opens one door that had been locked shut for two centuries.
