The fifth-ranked Belgreen varsity girls basketball team avenged one of its losses by defeating Hackleburg 52-47 Thursday night.
Hackleburg outscored the Lady Bulldogs 21-12 in the final quarter, but it was not enough to overcome a strong first-half performance by Belgreen.
Amber Smith led the Lady Bulldogs with 19 points while Loren McVicker scored 12 and Martha Billingham had nine points for Belgreen.
Katelin Barber, Deborah Billingham and Katy Britton scored four points each for the Lady Bulldogs.
Hope Hudson scored 23 points for Hackleburg.
With the win, Belgreen improves to 14-2 on the season while Hackleburg fell to 12-3. The Lady Bulldogs are 9-0 in area play.
Belgreen's next game will be in the semifinals of the Franklin County Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs will play at 6 p.m. Thursday against the winner of the Phil Campbell vs. Vina game.
