Pernie J. West, 92, of Oakland, Ill., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, surrounded by her family.
She was a homemaker and loving mother all her life. She was a member of a Baptist church in Alabama, and she loved to listen to gospel music.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 29 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville, Ala., with Delmer Duboise officiating. The burial followed at Shady Grove Cemetery in Double Springs.
Pernie Jane was born on May 19, 1916, in Winston County, Ala., to Luther and Texanna Horton. She was educated in Alabama. In 1935, she married Hollis Marshall West in Alabama, and he preceded her in death in 2000.
She is survived by her daughter, Laudell Jones and husband Cecil of Oakland, Ill.; sons, Danny West and wife Rhonda of Oakland, Ill., Bill West and wife Eva of Leoma, Tenn., and Larry West and wife Jan of Arley; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Beatrice League of Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Gaynell Riley; and eight brothers and sisters.

Lorene L. West

Lorene L. West, 79, of Maretta, Ga., formerly of Haleyville, Ala., passed away Dec. 25, 2008. She was a member of Corinth Heights Baptist Church.
Funeral services were Saturday, Dec. 27 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with her daughter, Rhonda Hamby, and grandson, Evan West Terrell, speaking. Burial followed at Winston Memorial Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Hamby; grandson, Evan West Terrell; and nieces, Ellan Stem, Cheryl Hallmark and Connie King.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bezzie Short; husband, James E. West; and son, James Larry West.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
William Donald Law
December 27, 2008
William Donald Law, 64, of Haleyville, Ala., passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at his home. He was born in Peragon, Ky., and he was a Baptist and retired rock mason.
Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 29 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Bro. Joel Hutcheson officiating. Burial was in Millstone Mountain Cemetery in Lynn.
He is survived by his children, Darwynna Sue Whitehill, William Marcus Law, Jody Lee Law and Crystal Dawn Anagnostu; step-children, Tammy Lynn Maier, William Kelly, Frances Ryan, James Raymond Collins and Stacey Marie Collins; sisters, Ruth Bowling and Phyllis Rich; brothers, Delmar, James and Kenneth Law; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many other special friends and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Marcus and Viola Law; brothers, John and Leslie Law; and wife, Sybil Joyce Law.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
Carl Ray Hall
December 28, 2008
Carl Ray Hall, 57, of Russellville, Ala., passed away at his residence Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008.
He attended school in Colbert County and worked for TVA before retiring. He was a youth league baseball coach for the parks and recreation center for several years and was an avid fisherman. The love of his life was his granddaughter, Summer.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 30 at Akins Funeral Home in Russellville with Bro. Stanley Hargett officiating. Interment will be in Bethsaida Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben Hillard Hall and Helen Eloise McCarty Hall.
He is survived by his son, Carl Clinton Hall; wife, Tina; sister, Mary Jane Zills; brothers, Sammy Hall and wife Opal and Ruben Junior Hall and wife Nancy; granddaughter, Summer Hall; and nephews, Jamie Hall and Nathan Hall.
Pallbearers were Randall Hall, Roger Hall, Jamie Hall, Mark Hall and Doug Williams.
