Snowfall causes slippery roads
Melissa Cason
The early snowfall caused slippery roads Monday causing accidents in Russellville.
Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said officers were busy working accidents Monday morning when drivers slid on icy overpasses, but no major injuries were reported because of the weather.
"We had an accident involving four vehicles Monday morning, but no one was injured in that accident," Hargett said.
Red Bay Police Chief Pat Creel said that end of the county did not see much ice and snowfall on the roadway, and no problems were reported there either.
"It really didn't do much here," Creel said.
Phil Campbell was another story. While no accidents were reported in Phil Campbell, the town's roadways were covered with white powder.
"We had the prettiest snow Monday," Town Clerk Anne Bragwell said. "There weren't really any problems because of it, though."
Franklin County EMA Director Roy Gober said the county as a whole didn't see any problems with the snow showers.
"There were a few accidents here and there but there wasn't anything major," Gober said.
