New Freedom sponsors Angel Tree

PHIL CAMPBELL – The New Freedom Outreach in Phil Campbell is asking for help from the community this Christmas as the mission's Angel Tree Project has doubled from last year.
"Last year, we had 150 names on the tree," Brian Scott, director, said. "I barely got enough gifts for those names and this year we have over 300 names on the tree."
Scott is asking that churches, civic and social organizations get involved and lend a helping hand this Christmas.
"Last year, several churches helped with the tree and we hope that more churches will get involved this year to help us fulfill the need," Scott said.
Scott is asking for gifts to be in the $10 to $15 price range per angel.
In addition to the Angel Tree Project, the mission will be serving a Christmas meal on Christmas Day beginning at 6 p.m.
"Last year we served about 300 people," Scott said. "We are expecting over 500 this year."
Scott said the mission welcomes any help anyone can give to the projects this year.
"We will accept donations, food, gifts, anything that can help this Christmas season," Scott said.
The New Freedom Mission is open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and serves a meal every Sunday afternoon. For more information on how you can help the mission this holiday season, call Brian Scott at 627-8701 or stop in the mission and visit with Tony Banks.
