Veterans' Day parade fitting tribute

Hundreds of people fought cool temperatures Saturday to line the streets of downtown Russellville.
They put football games and other activities aside to pay tribute to the men and women who have served our nation.
The Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, the city of Russellville and the local American Legion chapter hosted a parade Saturday complete with a military fly-over.
For those in attendance, it was a chance to honor those who gave us the rights we have.
It is a small tribute to what they've done for us.
There is no way to fully thank them, but the parade was a nice start.
The chamber, legion and the city should be commended for the parade they organized.
It was a fitting tribute.
The veterans who served our nation deserve more than we can ever bestow on them, but parades are a nice way to do so.
In the days following American victories in World Wars I and II, spontaneous celebrations and parades were sparked throughout the country.
The least we can do is plan an annual celebration in their honor.
