A Tucumbia man was arrested this week and charged with breaking into two homes Tuesday.
Officials said Timmie Lee James, 32, of 305 Wagnon Mountain Road in Tuscumbia, was arrested and charged with first and second-degree theft of property, auto burglary and burglary.
A juvenile whose name could not be released because of his age was also arrested in the case.
"The arrests stem from two break-ins that occurred on Tuesday," Sheriff Larry Plott said.
"Items taken from the homes included tools and fishing equipment."
Plott said the items recovered totaled more than $6,000 in value, and were returned to the owners.
The department was assisted in the case by the Colbert County Sheriff's Department.
James remains in the Franklin County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
