RB city council approves employee raises

RED BAY – The Red Bay city council voted to give city employees a cost-of-living raise during the regular council meeting Monday night.
The council voted to raise all full-time employees to 50 cents per hour.
"Everything is going up, and it will probably continue to go up," Councilman Bobby Nelson said. "I vote we give everybody a 50 cent raise."
The measure unanimously passed.
In other business, the council voted to:
Reid announced that there are two vacant seats on the Industrial Development Board. Brad Bolton's term will expire Dec. 1, and David Tiffin's term will expire on Dec. 1, 2009. These seats became vacant because Bolton and Tiffin were elected to the Red Bay council. Requirements for serving on the board is to live in the city limits and not be an official or employee of the city.
The next regular council meeting be Monday, Nov. 3 at city hall. The new council and mayor will be sworn into office that evening.
