The Franklin County Cattlemen's Association continued a long tradition of giving this week.
The group donated 300 pounds of beef that will be used by family and consumer science departments in three county high schools.
The Russellville, Red Bay and Phil Campbell departments all received thin-sliced steak, ground chuck and stew meat that will be used during lessons.
"This donation allows us to do a lot that we wouldn't be able to do," said Russellville teacher Cindy Coan.
Sherry Hutcheson, of Red Bay, said the meat is used in a way that students learn about healthier cooking.
"It encourages good nutrition through beef," she said.
Alabama Cattlemen's Association President Orland Britnell said the county organization has been making the donation to the schools for more than 25 years.
"It's just a way to help them teach the children about beef and its importance," he said.
