VINA – Last week Vina scored the most points since the 2007 season opener, but still suffered a 82-44 loss at the hands of Phillips.
It was one of the best offensive performances of the season as the Red Devils avoided numerous turnovers – a problem all year – on their way to 357 yards of total offense.
The Red Devils were able to score points running, passing and on special teams, which should instill confidence in the team as it heads into the final few weeks of the season.
They try to continue that success tonight on the road against Waterloo.
The Cougars opened the season with three-consecutive wins in their first year of region play. The strength of the region caught up with Waterloo the last three weeks as the Cougars lost to Hazlewood, R.A. Hubbard and Speake by a combined score of 147-6.
With a region record of 2-3, Waterloo is currently fifth in the region, but is only one game behind Phillips for the region's fourth and final playoff berth.
A loss at the hands of Vina would hurt the Cougars' playoff chances.
