McCreary's pick earns him Player of the Week

RED BAY – The Red Bay football team had allowed a Cherokee score late in the second quarter to tie the game at 14-14 before halftime.
In the third quarter, Cherokee was driving to take the lead, but junior Brooks McCreary had other ideas.
He stepped between Indian receiver and the quarterback to intercept a pass, returning it 70 yards for the go-ahead score.
"I think the guys got really excited (about the play)," Red Bay coach Dale Jeffreys said. "The defense came out and played better in the second half."
It was a big-time play for McCreary who is in his first season at Red Bay after transferring from Belmont, Miss.
Jeffreys had wanted to play McCreary at defensive end, but moved him to strong safety until he gets more comfortable with the terminology.
If he keeps making big plays, the rest of the team will be comfortable no matter where McCreary plays.
"(After his play) we ended up scoring again to go up by two scores," Jeffreys said. "We felt more comfortable at that point."
