The Russellville City Council had a brimming agenda Monday night in its first regular meeting this month due to the Labor Day holiday.
During the hour-long meeting, which included a 35-minute executive session to discuss personnel issues, the council members voted 5-1 to renew Municipal Judge Chad Coker's contract for two years. The lone dissenting vote came from outgoing Mayor Johnny Brown.
"Chad has done a good job but I voted no because I think that's for the next administration and city council to decide," Brown said.
The council voted 4-0 to appoint Dexter Hamilton to the Electric Board effective upon his resignation from his current position on the Civil Service Board and unanimously re-appointed Freddie Kimbrough to the Gas Board.
