Hazlewood runs past Vina 45-0

VINA – The Vina football team hoped to knock off another ranked team Friday, but No. 4 Hazlewood (3-0, 3-0) would have none of it as the Golden Bears won 45-0.
The Vina defense kept the Hazlewood offense out of the end zone for most of the first quarter, but the Golden Bears scored on a 3-yard run with 11 seconds remaining.
They would score three more times in the second quarter.
Vina quarterback Brent Townsend completed 14-of-31 passes for 170 yards, but threw five interceptions.
Morgan McCarley led the Red Devils with 12 receptions for 135 yards while Cass White caught seven passes for 31 yards.
Aaron Gray caught a pair of passes for 10 yards.
Vina (1-2, 1-2) gained only 32 yards on 18 rushing attempts.
Joseph Barksdale and Adam Wilson led the defense with a fumble recovery each.
The Red Devils will travel to R.A. Hubbard Friday.
