Getting ready for Gustav

By Staff

Franklin County Times
With Tropical Storm Gustav looming in the gulf, local officials have been working to make sure the county is prepared if we need to be.
It is difficult to imagine Northwest Alabama being affected by hurricanes, but as we all learned with Ivan three years ago, it certainly happens.
EMA Director Roy Gober and other officials in the county have a unique understanding of the danger the county faces in crucial times such as these.
They always stay prepared in the event that we have a catastrophe here, which thankfully we have avoided for many years.
Hurricanes and tropical storms can dump large amounts of rain and bring high winds that cause power outages and downed trees so there is always something to brace for.
Thanks to our local EMA, we are being looked after.
Those folks never get the recognition and praise that they deserve, so here is a little thank you for the efforts you give to protect us all.
