Local church to host Biker Sunday

David Martin, pastor of Church of Nazarene, wants his congregation to get to know the Christian bikers in the area so he invited local members of the Christian Motorcycle Association into his church for a special message.
"Members of the organization are coming in and taking over the service this Sunday," Martin said.
He said he had success with a similar organization in Kentucky before moving to Franklin County, and hopes to teach more Christians about the works of motorcycle enthusiasts.
"People on motorcycles sometimes get a bad reputation because they like ride bikes, but there are a lot of good, Christian bikers out there and the public needs to get to know them," Martin said.
Martin said he was so impressed with the organization when he first looked into it in Kentucky that he became a member.
The local CMA organization is based out of Haleyville, and he is excited about Sunday's service.
"I think it's going to be good, and hope to make this an annual event at our church," Martin said.
He hopes some of his church members will also get involved with the group.
The special service begins at 11 a.m. Sunday, and a lunch will be held after service so that members can meet and talk with CMA members.
