    Esther A. Muse

    Esther A. Muse passed away peacefully July 26, 2008. She was born May 27, 1915, in Russellville.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, John (Johnny) Muse; sisters, Cleo Flippo and Grace Batey; and brothers, Martin Tubbs and Billy Tubbs.
    She was a resident of Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach for more than 50 years. She was a member of Beville Road Church of Christ and was also active in the Mount Dora Children's Home, Lioness Club and the Conklin Eye Foundation. Esther worked as a nurses aide and caregiver to the elderly for many years. She touched the lives of many people with her love and generosity.
    She is survived by her sisters, Lorene Burns (Bill) of Daytona Beach, Margie Martin of Russellville; and Luverna Allen (Tommie) of Phildadelphia, Miss.; and brothers, J.D. Tubbs (Allene) of Middletown, Ohio, and Nelson Tubbs (Cassandra) of Casselberry, Fla.
    The family received friends at Haigh-Black Funeral Home in Ormond Beach July 30, followed by the service and procession to the Hillside Cemetery for committal and interment.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Volusia Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, Florida 32129. Online condolences may be shared at www.haighblack.com.

    Amos Raymond Feltman, 71, of Haleyville was born in Lawrence County, Ala. He passed away Aug. 5, 2008 at Lakeland Community Hospital.
    Visitation was held Aug. 7 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Bro. Sherman Kimbrough officiating. The funeral was Aug. 8 at Pinkard Funeral Home with the burial at Old Macedonia Cemetery.
    He is survived by his son, Barry Feltman; daughter, Regina Silas; grandchildren, Allison and Tyler; and sister, Merline Wright.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Feltman; mother, Debbie Spillers Feltman; brothers, Roscoe and Ed Feltman; and sisters, Bessie Hulsey, Gloria Jean Warren, Maudine Adair and Louise Boyles.

    James Robert Mobley, formerly of Lynn, passed away at the age of 88 on Aug. 5, 2008. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
    Funeral services were held Aug. 8 at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jeff Mobley officiating. Burial was in King School House Cemetery.
    He is survived by his wife, Mary Alpha Stults Mobley; children, James W. Mobley and wife, Nancy; Robert L. Mobley and wife, Connie; and Mary S. Acord and husband, Karl; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, R.P. and Callie Wakefield Mobley, brothers and sisters.

    John Boone Jr., 77, of Benton, Ky., passed away Aug. 6, 2008 in Benton. He was born May 9, 1931 in Hanceville, Mo., to John and Lois Yager Boone. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Boone; his parents; sisters, Mary Nunn, Jessie Guthrie and Ruby Boone; and brothers, Robert Boone, Marvin Boone, Daniel Boone, R.Z. Boone, Grady "Pete" Boone, Clifton Boone, Clarence Boone and Billy Boone.
    Funeral services were held Aug. 10 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Credille officiating. The burial was in Ridge Cemetery.
    He is survived by his children, Fayette Boone of Benton, Ky., Bonnie Bennett (Charles) of Jenson Beach, Fla., Joyce Boone (Daniel Hauser) of Polk City, Fla., and Shirley Butler (Gary) of Millersville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Sean Marshall, Michael Marshall, Amber O"Brien, Jimmy Floyd, Jason Floyd, Joy Wilson, Sherry Stallons, Raymond Barnett and Nathan Barnett; and 19 great-grandchildren.
    Pallbearers were Raymond Barnett, Nathan Barnett, Jason Floyd, Sean Marshall, Michael Marshall, Jimmie Wilson, Anthony Stallons and Jimmy Floyd.

    Jo Ann Bailey Kelly, 69, of Haleyville passed away Aug. 6, 2008. She was born in Winston County.
    Funeral services were held Aug. 10 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Bro. Danny Holmes officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery.
    She is survived by her children, Chester Roe Kelly, Johnathan Roe Kelly, Kimberly Ann Kelly May; sister, Janice Kay Altman; brothers, Charles Bailey, George Bailey and Donald Bailey; grandchildren, Jennifer Donaldson, Courtney Cummings and Caden Bailey Cummings; step-daughter, Darlene Henderson; son-in-law, Doc Henderson; step-sons, Rayford Kelly, Elton Kelly and Jimmy Roe Kelly; special lifelong friend, Emmet "Buck" Elson; and her special little baby "Boo Bear."
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Roe Chester Kelly Sr., and her parents, Otis and Ville Bailey.

    August 7, 2008
    Butch Daniel passed away Aug.7, 2008 in the Thornhill community at the age of 63. He was retired from the Army National Guard, where he received the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal.
    Funeral services were held Aug. 9 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with military honors. Terry Duncan and Father Tim Phander officiated the service. Burial followed at Thornhill Cemetery.
    He is survived by his wife, Susan Daniel of Haleyville; children, Julie Ann (Jeff) Huldtquist, Sandy (David) Hood, Eddie (Amy) Daniel; stepmother, Shelby Daniel; sisters, Sue Vaughn Hicks, Kelly Hulsey and Lisa Triplett; grandchildren, Ashley Hood, Amber Hood, Grace Huldtquist, Abbey Huldtquist, Shelby Daniel and Drew Daniel.
    He is preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Kathern Daniel and brother, Larry Daniel.

    J.V. Brewer, 86, of Red Bay passed away Aug. 7, 2008 at Care Center of Red Bay. He was born Nov. 25, 1921, in Vina to Millage and Nancy Ann Ewing Brewer. He was a factory worker.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Box Brewer; daughter, Peggy Joyce Hamm; son, Larry Thomas; grandson, Jeff Dill; great-grandson, Jeffery Dill; his parents; and several brothers and sisters.
    Funeral services were held Aug. 10 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Edwin Brewer and Curtis Taylor officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
    He is survived by his children, Wilma Beck (Pete) and April Duboise (Dennis), of Youngston, Fla., Michael Thomas of Haleyville, Mary Owen (Ray) of Houlka, Miss., and Velon Brewer of Haleyville; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
    Honorary pallbearers were Keith Brannon, Alvie Brewer and Kyle Compton. Pallbearers were Tony Emerson, Anthony Brewer, Shane Thomas, Ricky Cagle, Lowell Jackson and Mac Brewer.

    Betty Lou Davis, 68, of Red Bay passed away Aug. 7, 2008 at Care Center of Red Bay. She was born July 17, 1940, in Red Bay to Datlon and Willie Lou Holland Davis. She was a factory worker at Blue Bell and Lance Cement. She was a member of The Church of God of Prophecy. She was preceded in death by her parents and a half-brother, James Holland.
    Funeral services were held Aug. 10 at The Church of God of Prophecy in Red Bay with Bro. Paul Byrd officiating. Burial was in Berry Cemetery.
    She is survived by her children, Ricky Petree, Melissa Thompson (Neal) and Patricia Vinson, all of Red Bay; brother, Harold Davis (Evelyn) of Red Bay; grandchildren, Hannah Thompson, Heather Thompson, Richard Petree, Troy Petree, Glenn Vinson, Ricky Vinson and Steven Gardner; great-grandchildren, Kayden Gardner and Jamie Vinson; niece, Kim Holland of Red Bay; and nephew, Brad Davis of Red Bay.
    Pallbearers were Brad Davis, Glenn Vinson, Ricky Vinson, Richard Petree, Steven Gardner and Neal Thompson.

    John "Jr." Scott
    August 9, 2008
    John Junior "Jr." Scott, 72, of Russellville passed away Aug. 9, 2008 at Russellville Hospital.
    Mr. Scott lived his entire life in Franklin County and was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church. He was a self-employed welder.
    The funeral service was Aug. 11 at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with Bro. Bobby Stancil officiating. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery in Belgreen.
    He is survived by his sons, Randall Scott and Jeff Scott, both of Russellville; sister, Ruby McMahan Miller of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., five grandchildren; sis great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Minnie L. Scott; son, James Ralton Scott; daughters, infant daughter and Janice Gail Gann; granddaughter, Brandi Scott; brothers, Cecil Scott and Carl Scott; sisters, Myrtle Horton and Ruth Nichols.

    Mrs. Maxine Glasgow Martin, 92, of Franklin County passed away Aug. 9, 2008 at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home after an extended illness.
    The visitation was held August 10 prior to the 3 p.m. funeral service at Akins Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Faris officiating. Burial was in Mountain Home Presbyterian Cemetery in the Belgreen community.
    Pallbearers were Robert Glasgow, Jr., Sonny Glasgow, Jimmy Glasgow, James C. Glasgow, Tommy Glasgow and Rex Glasgow.
    She is survived by her brothers, James A. Glasgow, Ross W. Glasgow, Robert H. Glasgow and Thomas L. Glasgow; sister, Doris Sweda; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucien Tidwell; parents, Kimper and Lela Tompkins Glasgow; brothers, Spencer, Kimper, Jr., Cecil and John Glasgow; and sister, Mildred Feary.
    She was a member of Mountain Home Presbyterian Church. Maxine graduated from the University of Alabama with a master's degree in elementary education. She dedicated her entire life to teaching young children. She taught in Franklin and Marion counties for more than 30 years, including Phillips High School in Bear Creek for more than 25 years. She was also a reading specialist in the Illinois for over 10 years.
    The family would like to express a special word of thanks and appreciation to the administration, nurses and staff of Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home and A&E Hospice for the loving care and compassion shown to Maxine during her illness.

    Doris A. Cummings was born June 25, 1923 in Haleyville. She passed away Aug. 9, 2008 at the age of 85. She was a member of Littleville Methodist Church in Haleyville.
    Funeral services were held Aug. 11 at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel with Greg Reynolds and Scott Ward officiating. Burial waas in Winston Memorial Cemetery in Haleyville.
    She is survived by her cousins, Susie Cagle Tyalor and Fancy Cagle Holdbrooks.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Daniel Cummings, and her parents, John and Earlene Pickard Holdbrooks.

    Bessie Mae Weatherford, 91, of Lynn passed away Aug. 9, 2008 at Hendrix Health Care. She was born in Kentucky on March 7, 1917. She was member of Concord Baptist Church in Natural Bridge.
    Visitation services were held Aug. 10 at Pinkard Funeral Home with grandson Bill Tittle officiating and Aug. 11 at Brown Funeral Home in Clinton, Ky. The funeral was held at Pinkard Funeral Home Aug. 10 with the graveside service Aug. 12 at Mayfield Memory Gardens in Mayfield, Ky.
    She is survived by her children, Tony Rushing of Palm Bay, Fla. and Carol Rushing Tittle of Lynn; step-children, Judy, Kay and Mickey Weatherford, all of Kentucky; sisters, Mary Shaffer of Fla., Martha Nicholas of California and Tillie Wilkins of Kansas; grandchildren, Kim Tittle Bass, Bill Tittle, Mike Tittle, Michele Ivey, Tammy Rushing, Christy Myers, Sam Rushing and Keith Rushing; 17 great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren, Kensley, Chance and Kamri Tittle; and nine step-grandchildren.
    She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Anna Eberhardt; husbands, Rufus Rushing, Clifton Rushing and Maurice Weatherford; son, Ferrell Eugene Rushing; grandson, Ferrell Eugene Rushing II; sister, Ruth Weatherford; and brother, Edward Eberhardt.
