Russellville's Osman wins Handy 5K

FLORENCE – Russellville runners Nebiyu Osman and Hirbo Hirbo claimed the top two finishes in sweltering heat at the W.C. Handy 5K Saturday.
Osman, 16, finished in 17 minutes, 28 seconds, only two seconds faster than Hirbo, 22, in a field of 175 runners that included 10 from Franklin County.
Adam Collum, 37, placed first in the 35-39 male age division and 14th overall with a personal-record time of 20:10, while Mike Moore, 54, finished in 24:06 to claim third in the 50-54 male age division and 47th overall.
Russellville's Anthony McBrayer, Ericka McBrayer, Phillip White, Jason Hatsell, Samantha Hartsell, Turner Collumn, Tanya Collum and LaDonna Hitt also competed in the 3.1-mile race.
