Rebecca Southward

Rebecca Louise Southward, age 78m of Tishomingo, Miss., died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the Iuka Hospital. She was born December 13, 1929 in Mississippi to David and Gertrude Brock Southward. She joined Carters Branch Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Belmont, Miss., with Rev. S.W. Shinault officiating. Burial will be in Carters Branch Cemetery in Tishomingo. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday July 12, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home.
Ms. Southward is survived by her son, Richard Southward (Barbara) of Corinth, Miss.; daughters, Loretta Settlers (Marvin) of Omaha, Neb., and Janette Southwar Bean of Iuka; sisters, Asilene Emma Whitson of Iuka, Laura Bullock of Nashville, Janita Benning of Michigan City, Ind. and Luevenia Alexander (Roy) of Tishomingo; brother, K.C. Southward (Claudetter) of Michigan City; very special friend of 35 years, Harold Ray Alexander; nine grandchildren; special grandson, Skylar R. Bennett and a host of great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Jr. Southward, her parents, two sons and one daughter.
Pallbearers will be nephews, cousins and friends.
Orville Conwill

Orville Conwill, age 84, of Tremont, Miss., died Monday, July 7, 2008 at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born September 26, 1923 in Itawamba County to George Esco and Sula Chism Conwill. He was retired from Daybrite Lighting in Tupleo, and was a member of Oak Grove Church of God, where he was Sunday school superintendent for many years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Todd Kemp and Bro. Jim Williams officiating. Burial was in the Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. Conwill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Agnes Conwill of Tremont; children, Vickie Cook (Ronald) and Kim Farrar (Mark), all of Fulton, Miss., Phillip Ray (Joann) and Pat Parrish (Larry), all of Tremont; sister, Glenda Maxwell (Eddie) of Alaska; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Russ Conwill, three brothers, and two sisters.
Polly Young

Polly Mary Young, age 75, of Phil Campbell, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008. She attended Union Hill Congregational Methodist Church. She traveled with and encouraged The Revelators at numerous singing for nearly 20 years.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Union Hill Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. Curtis Taylor and Bro. Coy Morgan officiating. Burial was in the Union Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service included Hunter Young, Shane Young, Al Young, Mike Voyles, Larry Voyles and Kerry Thomas.
Ms. Young is survived by her son, Bobby Young; brother, Ronnie Thomas; grandsons, Hunter Young, Shane Young, and Al Young; and great grandchildren, Jackson Young and Trinity Young.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Young; parents, Dewey "D.A." Young and Dovie Magdalene Carpenter Young; and sisters, Lucille Morgan and Geneva Voyles.
Evie Duncan

Evie Lindley Duncan, age 86, of Guin, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Golden Living Center in Winfield, She was born June 9, 1922 in Red Bay to John W. and Dellie Self Lindley. She was a housewife and a Baptist.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Rev. David Kelly officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Ms. Duncan is survived by son, Jimmy "Craig" Duncan of Guin; step-daughter, Ima Jean Payne of Golden, Miss., brother, Mancel Lindley of Amory, Miss., and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband, Sanders William Duncan, and son, William Duncan.
Velma Dennis

Velma Glass Dennis, age 91, of Florence, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Florence Nursing home. She was born March 1, 1917 to Melton G. and Fannie Velma Glass of the Cherry Hill community in Russellville.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with George Steward officiating. Burial will be in the Cherry Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Dennis is survived by her children, Bobby R. (Ferne) Dennis of Lexington, Gerald T. (Rebecca) Dennis of Florence, Sara (Bill) Barton of Nashville; sisters, Ann (John) Richeson of Russellville, Frances (Tom) Bowling of Russellville; brothers, James (Elizabeth) Glass of Russellville, and Milton Davis Glass of Barnesville, Ga.; eight granchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, A.J. (Jack) Dennis; parents, Melton G. and Fannie Velma Glass; sister, Mary Sue (E.O.) Franks, Betty (Jesse) Farned, Mable (Elliott) Richeson; and brother, William (Velera) Glass.
