FBC ministers to local kids

Russellville First Baptist Church members are taking the word of God to the streets of Russellville by hosting a mini-camp two days a week to teach children about God's love.
Program coordinator Channing Ward said this is the second year for the mini-camps, which are held at Eastside Apartments and Washington Courts Apartments every week.
"We go to each apartment complex once per week," Ward said.
Ward said they play games with the children, provide a good snack and share a Bible story with them.
"It's kind of like a mini vacation bible school," she said. "Except it's once a week and lasts through July."
Ward said approximately five to seven children attend weekly at Washington Courts, and 10 to 15 children attend at Eastside Apartments.
"Eastside has more kids, and we try to get all the children involved," Ward said. "They are good kids."
Several church member volunteer to help with the outreach every week.
"Our church is very involved with this, and we have several members from teens to adults helping with this program," Ward said.
Ward said the purpose of the outreach is to teach children about God's love for them in a fun way during the summer.
"The kids are out of school and we felt the summer months was an opportunity for us to give them a fun activity with a message behind it," she said.
The group is at Washington Courts on Tuesdays and Eastside on Thursdays. The mini camps start at 10:30 a.m.
