The Ralph C. Bishop Community Center in Russellville got a new look recently when a new floor was put in to cover the concrete surface that had been used for years.
The Sports Court looks similar to maple hardwood. It is a floating floor with a rubber surface underneath making it much softer than the old floor.
Russellville Parks and Recreation Director Chad Sears said the surface should be better on the knees of people who use the gym.
"It will be better for people playing basketball and those who come here to walk a lot," Sears said.
"This floor will give a little if someone falls and should be better for the kids who use it."
Sears said the surface will never have to be waxed or stripped so it will save maintenance time as well.
Sears hopes that a similar floor can be put in at the Chucky Mullins Center soon.
"We will try to get the same thing at the Mullins Center as soon as we can," he said.
