UNA basketball camp
June 16-18
FLORENCE – The UNA women's basketball program will hold a commuter shooting camp Monday, June 16-Wednesday, June 18 from 8:30 a.m. until noon for girls in grades 3-12. Northwest-Shoals basketball camp
RHS Booster Club meeting
June 18
The Russellville High School Booster Club will meet Wednesday, June 18 at 8 p.m. at the RHS Field House. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend. The club is now accepting new members and selling advertisements for the the annual media guide. A yearly membership costs $10, and includes a Golden Tigers window decal. Quarter-page ads are $50, half-page ads are $80 and full-page ads are $150. For more information or to purchase an ad, contact Joe or Nancy Foster at 332-1525.
Youth football sign-ups
June 21
The Russellville Youth Football League will hold registration Saturday, June 21 at the Russellville Park and Recreation Center from 9 a.m. until noon. The cost will be $65 for ages 5-12. The 5-year-olds will play on the new Micro Midget team. There are a limited number of spots available, and this will be the final sign-up. Please bring your child to be fitted for jerseys, along with a birth certificate copy if this is your child's first year to play. For more information, call Peggy Hipps at (256) 436-4074.
PCHS Booster Club meeting
June 23
The Phil Campbell High School Athletic Booster Club will meet Monday, June 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Phil Campbell Rescue Squad building. This is the first meeting of the 2008-09 year, and all parents, school alumni and supporters are invited to attend, and all parents with a child participating in sports at PCHS should be present. There will be a $50 gas card giveway at the meeting and new football coach Michael Parker will be the featured speaker.
RB Lady Tiger basketball camp
June 23-26
The annual Red Bay High School basketball camp for girls entering grades 1-9 will be held Monday, June 23-Thursday, June 26. Camp will run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for grades 7-9 each day and noon to 3 p.m. for grades 1-6. Cost is $40 per player, and each camper will receive a T-shirt if registration deposit and form is received by Friday, June 20. There will be individual instruction, 5-on-5 games and free throw, hot shot and 1-on-1 contests. The camp will focus on team concepts, sportsmanship, offensive and defensive fundamentals, stretching and form running. June 23-24
MUSCLE SHOALS – Northwest-Shoals Community College will provide a summer basketball camp in the Patriot Center gym on the Shoals campus June 23-24 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The camp is for girls ages 7-17, and all participants will receive a camp T-shirt. Cost is $75 per individual and $60 for each additional famly member. Team discounts will also be given with three or more team members participating from the same school. Helen Keller Festival races
June 28
TUSCUMBIA – The 30th annual Helen Keller Festival will sponsor a 5-mile race and 1-mile fun run Saturday, June 28 at 8 a.m. at the Colbert County Courthouse. Both courses certified and registration is $15 (5-mile) and $10 (1-mile) through June 24 and $20/$15 from June 25-28. For more information, contact Joy Harbin at (256) 381-4706.
