Cullen Mashburn

Cullen C. Mashburn, 93, of Russellville, died Friday, April 18, 2008, of natural causes.
He was a highly decorated World War II Army veteran and a member of Masonic Lodge #608 of Spruce Pine. He was a member of Shady Grove Freewill Baptist Church of Liberty Hill.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 20, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home with Bro. Jerome Sherrill officiating. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Freewill Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12:30 to 2 p.m. prior to the start of the service.
Mr. Mashburn is survived by sisters, Helen Pounders, of Russellville, Wyvonne McKellar (Kenny) of Pine City, Minn., and Cherovise Bird of Harpersville, Ala., brother, Clifton Mashburn of Smithville, N.C., and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Mashburn was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lula Mashburn; brothers, Buran Mashburn, Grady Mashburn, Lloyd Mashburn, B.J. Mashburn, and Warfield Mashburn; and sisters, Bonnie Jackowaskie and Opal Roberts.
Pallbearers for the service will include Mickey Bird, Tommy Mashburn, Daniel Stoddard, Jerry Nix, Jackie Nix, Larry Nix and Vic Nix.
Akins Funeral Home of Russellville assisted the family.
