Local events a success despite Friday's rain

By Staff
Kudos to the Franklin County Kiwanis Club, the Franklin County Domestic Violence Response Coalition and Safeplace, Inc. for their functions held Friday.
The Kiwanis Club hosted their annual Pancake Day at First United Methodist Church. Kiwanis' pancakes have gathered quite a following. Each hear hundreds of hungry residents roll out of bed looking for pancakes, a slice of sausage and some juice.
Pancake Day has become one of the club's most renowned fundraisers, and it helps benefit local causes.
The Franklin County Domestic Violence Response Coalition and Safeplace, Inc. held their sixth annual Walk-a-Mile-for-a-Child awareness fundraiser on the same day.
The proceeds from this event benefit victims of child abuse. Our thanks to those who braved the rain to make both these events a success.
