    Claudette Kimbrough
    March 29, 2008
    Claudette Kimbrough, 69, Russellville, Alabama passed away Saturday, March 29, 2008 at Russellville Hospital.
    Mrs. Kimbrough was a native of Lawrence County, but had lived most all of life in Franklin County. She was a member of Cornerstone Church.
    Funeral service is scheduled for Monday, March 31, 2008, 11:00 A.M. at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville with Carolyn Baker officiating. Burial will follow in East Franklin Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday evening from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
    Survivors include husband, Armon Kimbrough; children, Kathy Horton, Kay Corbell, Darrell Kimbrough, Mike Kimbrough, all of Russellville, Alabama; sister, Annie Fuller, Decatur, Alabama; grandchildren, Melissa Berry, Chris Corbell, Jamey Horton, Linda Dotson, Nikki Williams, Heather Kimbrough; great-grandchildren, Emmy Berry, Timmy Dotson, Makayla Dotson, Lucas Horton and Caison Corbell.
    She was preceded in death by parents, Finus and Dosha Hicks.
    Pinkard Funeral Home Russellville will be directing.
    Ida Noble
    March 23, 2008
    Ida Turner Noble, age 91, of Vina, died March 23, 2008 at ECM Hopsital in Florence. She was born March 9, 1917 in Wayland, Ky. to James and Myrtle Wallen Turner. She was a homemaker and a member of Vina First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husand, Cephus Noble, Sr.
    Funeral services were held March 26, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay with Bro. Steve Ledbetter officiating the service. Burial was in the Baggett cemetery.
    Ms. Noble is survived by her children, Betty Bailey (Edward) of State Line, Miss., Jacequeline Davidson (James R.) of Vina, Cephus Noble, Jr. (Mary Ann) of Maryland, James Noble (Betty) of Carson City, Nev. and Joe Noble (Bonnie) of New Carolton, Maryland; brother, John Turner (Lois) of Batesville, In.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
    Pallbearers will her grandsons.

    Beckie Thorn
    March 23, 2008
    Beckie Weatherbee Thorn, age 88, of Vina, died March 23, 2008 at Russellville Hospital. She was born July 18, 1919 in Alabama to Forrest and Ellen James Weatherbee.
    She was a homemaker and a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Burnout Missionary Baptist Church and a member of Burnout Homemakers Club for more than 50 years.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Thorn, and her parents.
    Funeral services were held March 26, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay with Bro. Tom Scott and Bro. Dan Hindman officiating. Burial was in the Burnout cemetery.
    Ms. Thorn is survived by children, Shirley Ezzell (Charles), Robert Thorn (Joan), and Judy Burgett (Ronald), all of Vina, and Peggy Tiffin (David) of Red Bay; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Thorn of Vina; grandchildren, Dexter Ezzell (Lisha), Suzan Ezzell, Douglas Ezzell (Emily), Teresa Lawler (Keith), Cynitha Green (Rodney), Gary Thorn (Christy), Melanie Corum (David), Lynette Horton (Tony), Beth Hammock (Richard), Jason Tiffin (Jennifer), Tricia Trousdale (Heath) and Shawn Burgett (Vicki); 25 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
    Pallbearers for the service included Dexter Ezzell, Douglas Ezzell, Shawn Burgett, Jason Tiffin, Gary Thorn, Andy Thorn, Anthony Thorn, Dane Ezzell and Benji Jones.
    Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
    Johnny Ward
    March 25, 2008
    Johnny D. Ward, age 62 of Red Bay, died March 25, 2008. He was born January 10, 1946 in Franklin County to James "Boots" and Virda Malone Ward. He was an electrician and machinist. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ralph Ward.
    Graveside services were held March 27, 2008 at Graham Cemetery in Rockwood, Ala. with Bro. Larry Hill officiating the service. Burial followed the service.
    Mr. Ward is survived by daughters, Melody Pearson (Stuart) of Red Bay and Tammy Ward of Russellville' grandchildren, Phillip Pearson and Maddie Pearson, both of Red Bay; and sister, Sue Whisnant of Florence.
    Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
    Mary Green
    March 26, 2008
    Mary Ellen Mills Green, age 74, of Red Bay, died March 26,2 008 at Care Center of Red Bay. She was born January 27, 1934 in Itawamba County, Miss. She was a 1953 graduate of Red Bay High School and a member of Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cly T. and Dessie Mills, her husband, James Randall Green, and brother, James Wesley Mills.
    Funeral services were held March 28, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Tom Scott and Bro. Mark McCraney officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
    Ms. Green is survived by children, Wanda Davis (Larry) of Lynchburg, Va., Randy Green (Jan) of Tupelo, Miss., and Rodney Green (Cindy) of Red Bay; several grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
    Pallbearers for the service included Mike Davis, Zach Eaton, Frank Brosious, Benji Jones, David Jones, and Dewayne Palmer.

    Thurman Thorn
    March 27, 2008
    Thurman William Thorn, age 76, of Russellville, died March 27, 2008 .
    Funeral services were held March 31, 2008 at Spry Memorial Chaple with Bro. Andy Cansler officiating the service. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
    Pallbearers for the service included Daoud Aldeir, Nebeel Aldeir, Corey Fox, Jeremy Cozad, James (Lee Lee) Thorn, Jonathan Thorn, Greg Madison, and Ronald Thorn.
    Mr. Thorn is survived by his wife, Doris Thorn of Russellville; daughters, Reba Fox of Sherville, In., Regina and Charlie Aldeir, Sheila and Greg Madison of Hammond, In., Little Reba and Kevin Malone; brothers, James and Donna Thorn of Muscle Shoals, Roy and Loretta Thorn of Joliet, Ill., Alfred and Pauline Thorn of Russellville, Morris O'Neal and Ann Thorn, Cherokee; sisters, Truby Isbell of Muscle Shoals, Ruth and Jim Hall of Phoenix, Va.; daughter-in-law, Cathy (Thorn) Warren of Jasper; seven grandsons, seven granddaughters; two great-grandsons; nine great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Mr. Thorn was preceded in death by son, Randy Thorn; great-grandson, Cameron Lee Keeton; parents, William D. and Edna Thorn; sisters, Frances Keenum and Irene (Thorn) Johnson.

    A.G. Collier
    March 27, 2008
    A.G. (Gaitus) Collier, age 87, of Golden, Miss., died March 27, 2008 at Red Bay Hospital.
    A lifelong resident of Itawamba County, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. He was a Purple Heart recipient while serving in France, Germany and Belgium.
    He also served his community in many ways. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Tremont Lions Club.
    He helped to organize Bonds ICDC and Itawamba County Water Association. He was a lifelong worker in the timber industry as a manager and employee; a produce farmer and a Sunday School teacher. He was a member of Freewill Baptist Church in Red Bay.
    Mr. Collier was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Marietta Woolridge Collier; brothers Ott, Cooley and an infant brother; and grandchild, Larry David Eades, Jr.
    Funeral services were held on March 30, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Tom Scott and Bro. J.V. Davis officiating the service. Burial was in the Itawamba Memorial Gardens in Fulton, Miss.
    Pallbearers for the service included Terry Collier, Eddie Collier, Gayre Pounders, Gid Stuckey, Bo Burks, Ralph Burks, Kenneth Pounders, and Phillip Summerford. Honorary Pallbearers included Ross White, Joel Collum, Doug Ray, Robert Newell, Ron Probst, John Messer, and Tremont Lions Club.
    Mr. Collier is survived by wife of 69 years, Edith Pounders Collier of Golden; daughter, Glenda Burks (Ralph) of Golden; grandchildren, Sunja Eades Stuckey (Gid) of Olive Branch, Miss., Suzanne Eades of Fulton and Bo Burks (Farrow) of Montgomery; and great-grandchildren, Mary Grace Burks and Sophie Wallace Burks.

    Burnious Shelton
    March 27, 2008
    Burnious Engle Shelton, age 84. of Russellville, died March 27, 2008. She was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry C. Engle; second husband, William Shelton; son, Wade Hollis Engle; grandson, Carl Feltman; mother, Nora Garrison; and brother, William "Noah" Garrison.
    Funeral services were held March 29, 2008 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Donnie L. Borden and Bro. E.H. Peterson officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
    Ms. Shelton is survived by daughters, Joann Lynn and husband, Charles, Charlotte Borden and husband, Paul, Wanda Borden and husband, Donnie; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Jimmy Posey
    March 29, 2008
    Jimmy Posey, age 68, of Red Bay, died March 29, 2008 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He was born December 8, 1939 in Barton, AL to Willie and Edna Richardson Posey. He was employed by Golden Manufacturing for 35 yeas and was a member of the Pentecostal Faith Church.
    He loved to hunt, garden and listen to gospel singing. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters, Elbert Posey, Marshall Posey, Jessie Posey, Polly Bryan, Betty Jean Chappell, Wendell Posey, and Nellie Posey.
    Funeral services were held April 1, 2008 at the Pentecostal Faith Church with Bro. Jimmy Massey and Bro. Billy Credille officiating. Burial will be in the Bolton Cemetery.
    Mr. Posey is survived by his wife, Francis Posey of Red Bay; sisters, Elloween Bolton of Russellville, and Gladys Gargis and husband, Hillman, of Tuscumbia; brother, Floyd Posey and wife, Joy, of Cherokee; sister-in-law, Loas Posey of Russellville; brother-in-law, Ralph Chappell of Phil Campbell; and a host of nieces and nephews.
    Pallbearers for the service included Helton Puckett, Ray Smelser, Steve Smelser, Russell Smelser, Greg Gargis, Melford Posey, and Lebron Keaton.

    Geneva Prince
    March 29, 2008
    Geneva Bray Prince, age 89, of Russellville, died March 29, 2008 after an extended illness. She was a member of Eastside Missionary Baptist Church of Russellville.
    Funeral services were held Monday, March 31, 2008 at Eastside Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Fleming and Bro. Dennis Steward officiating the service. Burial was in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Prince; parents, Dow and Mamie Bray; and brothers, Troy and Orlando Bray.
    Ms. Prince is survived by son, Keith Prince (Charlotte) of Moulton; daughters, Brenda Cooper (Larry), Joan Pace (Tom), Judy Miller, all of Russellville; grandchildren, Brian Cooper (Sharon), Craig Cooper, Matt Miller (Ashley), Jason Miller, Miranda Hamilton (Jimmy), Adam Pace (Angela), Zachary Prince, Jonathon Prince and Jameson Prince; and great-granddaughters, Allyson Hamilton and Madelyn Pace.
    Grandsons served as pallbearers for the service.
    The family would like to extend their appreciation to Burns Nursing Home and all the wonderful people that have loved and taken care of her.

    Harvey Uptain
    March 30, 2008
    Harvey W. Uptain, age 91, of Sheffield, died March 30, 2008. He was a member of Bethsaida Missionary Baptist Church. He was an iron worker for local 477 in Sheffield, and was a Mason for 60 years with Lodge # 43 in Leighton.
    Funeral services were held April 1, 2008 at Bethsaida Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Carl Gaston, Bro. Edward Lou Allen, and Bro. Stanley Hargett officiating the service. Burial was in the Bethsaida Cemetery.
    Mr. Uptain is survived by wife of 67 years, Helen Uptain of Sheffield; sons, O'Neal Uptain (Barbara) of Muscle Shoals, Glenn Uptain (Joyce) of Russellville and Garry Uptain of Norcross, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
    Mr. Uptain was preceded in death by daughter, Maudie Clement; son, Jerry Uptain; and parents, Roscoe and Arminda Uptain.
    Pallbearers for the service included J.T. Uptain, Chris Uptain, Wesley Uptain, Baxter Clement, Eddie Woodard, Joey Woodard, Morris Britton, and Melvin Hindman.
    Honorary pallbearers included Lee Roy Uptain, Martin Uptain, John K. Uptain, Terry Thorn, Sammy Halland Chris Hand.
    The family would like to extend their appreciation to Park Place in Sheffield, and to Dr. Ralph Aquadro, ECM doctors and staff nurses on the second floor and ICU nurses and special friend, Frank Berness.

    March 31, 2008
    Pauline Bankston, age 86, of Tuscumbia, died March 31, 2008. She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals.
    Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Akins Funeral Home in Russellville at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ted Vafeas officiating the service. Burial will be in the Liberty Hill Cemetery.
    Ms. Bankston is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert Bankston of Tuscumbia; sons, Uthell Bankston (Alice) of Phil Campbell, and Timothy Bankston (Judith) of Courtland, Ala.; grandchildren, Randy Sweet (Pam), Chris Bankston (Kim), Ginger Rose, Christian Bankston, Paige Mancuso (Angelo); five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.,
    Pallbearers for the service will include Chris Bankston, Ronnie Trapp, Kenneth Kimbrough, Uthell Bankston, Timothy Bankston, Elmer Watkins. Honorary pallbearers will include Christian Bankston.

    Carl C. Willis, 79, Russellville, Alabama died Monday, March 31, 2008 at his residence.
    He was lifelong resident of Franklin County and was retired from Reynolds Metals Company with 32 years of service.
    There will be a graveside service Wednesday, April 2 at 11 a.m. at Franklin Memory Gardens with Richard Parker officiating.
    Burial will follow immediately after the service.
    Survivors include wife, Doris Willis, Russellville; daughters, Jean (Howard) Hatton, Lexington, Kay (Dennis) Nichols, Russellville; son Mike Willis, Littleville; sister, June Hendrix, Tuscumbia; brother, Eddie Willis, Russellville; grandchildren, Traci Walker, Lee Hatton, Clay Willis, Jennifer Warhurst, Kelly Pennington, Leah Nichols; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by parents, Ed and Ellie Willis; brother, Olan Willis. Pinkard Funeral Home Russellville will be directing.
