Charles Gilbert "Coach" Ayers, 88, Phil Campbell, Alabama passed away Saturday, March 22 at Russellville Hospital.
Mr. Ayers was a native of Marion County and had lived in Phil Campbell for the past 50 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Phil Campbell and chairman of the deacons for 25 years.
He was SSgt. in the Army during WWII and received Good Conduct Medal, Rifle and Machine Gun Combat Infantry Badge. He was member of Alabama High School Athletics and Coaches Association Award for 23 years of meritorious service, lifetime member of the Jacksonville State University J-Club, Franklin County Sports Hall of Fame, AEA/AERA. He was charter member of the Phil Campbell Lions Club, former director of Colonial Bank and Alabama High School Coaches Association.
The funeral services were held March 25 at First Baptist Church in Phil Campbell with Greg Beasley, Tim Haney and Terry DeFoor officiating.
Survivors include wife, Barbara DeFoor Ayers, Phil Campbell, Alabama; son, Kirk Ayers and wife, Tammy, Poquson, Virginia; sister, Mary Green, Destin, Florida; grandson, Tyler Ayers and five nieces.
Pinkard Funeral Home Russellville will be directing.

Wiley E. "Eddie" Brazil, 81, of Red Bay, died March 20, 2008, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born October 14, 1926, in Fulton, Miss. to Sidney Price and Annie McMillen Brazil. He was a truck driver and machinist in Cleveland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Willard Price Brazil, and Louis A. Brazil and a grandson, Daniel J. Powell, Jr.
Funeral services were held on March 22, 2008, at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay with Bro. Mark McCraney officiating the service. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ Cemetery in Marietta, Miss.
Mr. Brazil is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vera Brazil of Red Bay; children, June Smith of Parma, Ohio, Sherry Strickland (Don), Angie Black (Tom) and Laurence Brazil, all of Red Bay, Sheila Renfro (Ken) of Muscle Shoals, Glenda Schmalz (John) of Fulton; brother, Sidney "Butch" Brazil (Jane) of Red Bay; grandchildren, Joanne Velimesis, Sara Smith, Amber Martinez, Donovan Mills, Charles Black, Rachel Mitchell, Rachel Renfro; Kendall Renfo, Audrey Embrey, Whitney Warren, John T. Schmalz and Joshua Schmalz; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and good friend, R.V. Holland of Red Bay.
Pallbearers for the service included Kendall Renfro, Eddie Mitchell, Chris Brazil, Brandon Brazil, Matthew Brazil and Jeff Strickland.
Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay assisted the family.
Avadene Baldwin

Avadene Baldwin, 89, of Hodges, died March 21, 2008, at her residence. She was born December 6, 1918, in Franklin County to Relmond and Sarah Scott McKinney. She was a housewife and a member of Holly Springs Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Baldwin, her parents, two sisters, one brother, and four infant children.
Funeral services were held March 23, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home with Bro. Nathan Davidson officiating the service. Burial was in the Baggett cemetery.
Ms. Baldwin is survived by children, Mary Lou Scott (Cecil) and Tim Baldwin (Donna) both of Russellville; Doug Baldwin (Sue) and Renea Baldwin both of Scotts Hill, Tenn., David "Tidge" Baldwin of Atwood and Vangie Streetman (Dwight) of Hamilton; two sisters-in-law, Mildred McKinney of Red Bay and Edith Williams of Atwood; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Michael Scott, Ronald Scott, Zachary Scott, Joseph Baldwin, Johnny Baldwin, Jeremy Streetman and Chad Streetman.
Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay assisted the family.
