Ozzie M. Thorne

Ozzie McAfee Thorne, 95, of Hodges, died on March 13, 2008, at her residence.
She was born on Oct. 13, 1912, in Franklin County to Luther and Claudie Cooper McAfee. She was a homemaker and a member of Hodges Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilford A. Thorne, her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 15 at Hodges Church of Christ with Jackie Richardson and Steve Gober officiating. She was buried in Old Line Cemetery.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Saad (George), of Breckensville, Ohio, Jean Kirk (Bluford), and Sandra Strickland, both of Hodges; one sister, Theadus Willingham, of Russellville; special niece, Jeanette Cantrell, of Hodges; nine grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Aaron Kirk, Brad Kirk, Brandon Strickland, Tim Gintz, Tim Atkinson and Tim Cantrell.
James T. Marbutt

James Thelbert "Slick" Marbutt, 90, of Phil Campbell, passed away March, 11, 2008, at his residence.
He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Phil Campbell. He was retired from the Marion County Road Department.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 13 at Pinkard Funeral Home with Mark Daniel officiating. He was buried in Antioch Cemetery.
He is survived by his children, Robert Marbutt, Judy Bales, Lynda Baker, Ronnie Marbutt, Ted Marbutt and Lisa White; sister, Deria Terry; brother, Welford Marbutt; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Inez Marbutt; his granddaughter, Kelly Marbutt; parents, John and Ida Truitt Marbutt; brothers and sisters, Arnold Marbutt, Eula Rich Cornison, Gertrude Duggar, Irene Clement, John Harold Marbutt and Otho Marbutt.
Jerry P. Caldwell

Jerry Patton Caldwell, 63, of Haleyville, passed away March 9 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville.
He was born on Aug. 31, 1944, in Haleyville. He was a member of First Baptist Church, of Haleyville. He was the former owner of Caldwell Chair.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at First Baptist Church, Haleyville, with Dr. Jim Cooley, Dr. T.B. Stringfellow and Dr. Richard Trader officiating. He was buried in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Moore Caldwell; children, Lisa Caldwell Campbell, Cody Smith, Benjamin Smith, Christian Caldwell and Dillon Caldwell; brother, Doug Caldwell and his wife, Peggy; sisters, Harriet McKinney and husband, Bob, Mary Tidwell and husband, Gary, Violette DeFoor and husband, Don, and Martha James; two grandchildren, Rob Campbell and Annabelle Campbell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Smith Caldwell and Harriet Naomi Caldwell, and his brother, Harold Hugh Caldwell.
Joe W. Jackson

Joe Wayne Jackson, 47, of Russellville, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 16 at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville with Bro. Timothy Griffin officiating. He was buried in Duncan Creek Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughter, Karri Chatham; mother, Betty Jo Jackson; brothers, James Jackson and John (Robin) Jackson; and nieces, Johnna Jackson and Chasity Jackson.
Aline M. Williams

Aline Maggie Williams, 89, of Haleyville, passed away March 7, at Sunbridge Nursing Home in Muscle Shoals.
She was known as the Strawberry Cake Lady to many of her friends. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Haleyville.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 11 at Pinkard Funeral Home with Bro. John Simmons officiating. She was buried in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
She is survived by daughters, Charlotte Morgan and Pam Deliz; grandchildren, Terri and Don Wiglesworth, Tiffany and Reed Billman, Daniel Deliz, Bryana Harbin, Brittany and Bradley Thurman; great-grandchildren, Will Garrett, Grace, Hayden and Riley as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Harbin.
Grady R. McCollum

Grady R. McCollum, 92, of Pace, Fla., died March 14, 2008, of natural causes.
Funeral services were held on March 18 at Akins Funeral Home. Burial was in Knights of Pythias Cemetery with Bro. Mark Daniel officiating.
He was a native of Franklin County and a former resident of Russellville.
He is survived by his son, Gene McCollum and wife, Jayne, of Pace, Fla.; grandchildren, Graham McCollum and wife, Tanya, of Pensacola, Fla.; great-grandson, Garrett McCollum, of Pensacola, Fla.; brother-in-law, William "Buster" Hagood and wife, Cris, of Florence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Minnie McCollum, and his wife of 65 years, Lucille McCollum.

Katie Boyd Jeffreys, 99, of Haleyville, died March 17, 2008, of natural causes.
She was a member of Bear Creek Church of Christ.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Akins Funeral Home in Russellville with Bro. Gilbert Behel officiating. Burial will follow in Roden Cemetery in Town Creek.
She was a Lawrence County native and former resident of Haleyville.
She is survived by daughters, Nellie Ruth Jeffreys Galloway and husband, Onnie, of Haleyville, and Clara Mae Jeffreys Cole, of Oakdale, Tenn.; grandchildren, Melba Chaffin Hale and husband, Billy, Kathy Frederick Fletcher and husband, Al, Carol Chaffin Brazier and husband, Joe, Susie Cole Perkins and husband, Keith, Toni Cole Lane, Billy Cole, David Cole, Frank Galloway and wife, Pam, Chris Galloway and wife, Janice, Randal Galloway and wife, Rhonda, Phillip Galloway; 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Maggie Boyd; husband of 28 years, Albert Scott Jeffreys; daughter, Melba Lee Jeffreys, six brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Linda Lovelace and Good Samaritan Hospice.
Elvet Parker

Elvet "Chester" Parker, 84, Haleyville, died Sunday, March 16, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at New Hope United Methodist Church in Phil Campbell with Rev. James Anderton officiating the service. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 12 to 2 p,m. at the church prior the funeral.
Pallbearers will include Dale Garrison, Brad Bradley Garrison, Milton Jones, Bobby Parker, Wendell Gann and Mark Latham.
Mr. Parker is survived by his brother, Hurlen Parker and wife, Evelyn, of Phil Campbell; nieces, Diane Gaba, and Lynette Cheatham, and nephew, Dalton Thrasher.
Mr. Parker was preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and isabell Parker; sisters, Pearlie Thrasher, Ina Mae Parker, Gladys Swims, Eva Sue Camp, and infant brother, Lonnie Brown.
Akins Funeral Home assisted the family.
