Training grant good for us all

By Staff
Northwest-Shoals Community College learned Tuesday that they have been selected to receive almost $4 million in grant money that will add to workforce training programs they have in place.
The U.S. Department of Labor chose NW-SCC as one of only a handful of colleges nationwide to get the funding.
The money will allow students who are looking for jobs in the nursing field or who may be interested in learning a specific trade, such as welding, to get that particular training.
Northwest Alabama is in a prime spot to take advantage of several industrial opportunities.
Major manufacturers are locating all around us and the possibilities are there for more.
We commend the administration at NW-SCC for taking the necessary steps in getting the grant money.
It is an encouraging thought that our people can be trained and prepared for the kinds of jobs that are available to them.
