Russellville to play in TimesDaily Classic semifinals
FLORENCE – The Russellville varsity baseball team has picked up three victories in the TimesDaily Classic, including wins over Lawrence County, Muscle Shoals and Florence to improve to 10-4.
The Golden Tigers, which played Deshler last night at Florence High School, will play in the semifinals Thursday at either Deshler or Florence, while the tournament finals are set for Friday, March 14.
Belgreen softball blanks Shoals Christian 14-0
FLORENCE – Belgreen junior Martha Billingham struck out eeven batters Monday in a game that was shortened to to three innings due to the mercy rule.
The Lady Bulldogs, powered by three hits from Katelin Barber, shut out Shoals Christian 14-0 Monday afternoon.
Red Bay baseball sweeps Belgreen
RED BAY – The Red Bay varsity boys swept Belgreen 5-2 and 10-0 in doubleheader action Monday.
The Tigers' Cody Armstrong earned the the opening game victory as Chase Lindsey pounded out a triple, double and RBI.
Stephen Prestage pitched only four innings while allowing no runs and striking out six batters in the second game as Eli Cox led the hitting attack with two hits for Red Bay.
Men's softball tournament
March 21-22
SUMITON – The city parks and recreation department is offering a men's Class D softball tournament at Sumiton City Park on Friday, March 21-22.
The deadline to enter and pay the $150 entry fee is Wednesday, March 19. Each team must have a team representative and fees paid at the draw at the park Wednesday, March 19 at 6 p.m. Each team will pay one umpire each game and furnish one new softball per game. City flag football registration
March 31
The Russellville Parks and Recreation Department flag football league will register teams until March 31.The league is for ages 16 and up, and the fee is $150 per team with a limit of 15 players.
To register, come to the Russellville Recreation Center or call Derrick Dorn at 332-8770.
Regional BASS tournament
May 22-23
DECATUR – The Decatur/Morgan County Convention and Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce Ingalls Harbor has been chosen for the BASS Club World Championship (BCWC) Regional Tournament, a qualifier for the World Championship. The regional tournament is set for Thursday, May 22 and Friday, May 23.
