Stephen Bryan Adams, 57, of Russellville, was born to Howard Francis and Edna Elizabeth (Eschler) Adams on July 24, 1950, at Wichita Falls, Texas, and departed this life in Little Rock, Ark., on Feb. 24, 2008.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 2, 2008,at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Russellville with Rev. Alan Beasley officiating.
Steve grew up at Cookietown, Okla., graduating from Big Pasture High School in 1968. He then went on to receive his bachelor's degree in education from Southwestern State University in Weatherford, Okla. He then made his home in Burkburnett, Texas, where he taught in high school for 2 years. He eventually went to work for Certain-Teed in Wichita Falls.
Steve married Leslie Evans in November of 1987 at Wichita Falls, Texas, where they made their home until transferring to Russellville, Ala., in August 2001. There he had been manager of Saint-Gobain, a glass mat manufacturing plant, until having to retire in June of 2007 due to ill health.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Russellville, Ala.
Through the years Steve had enjoyed flying, receiving his pilot's license as a teenager, spending time with his family and going on mission trips to Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Leslie; one son, Chad Adams and his wife, Kim, of Mustang, Okla.; two daughters, Katie and Beth Adams, of Russellville, Ala.; two brothers and their wives, Roger and Mary Adams of Burkburnett, Texas, and Kirby and Joyce Adams of Hastings, Okla.; one granddaughter, Makennah Adams; many other relatives and friends.

Gertha Lena Champion Yocom, 88 of Russellville, died on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008.
She was born in Cullman County, but lived in Russellville for many years. She earned a nursing degree in Berwyn, Ill., and over the years worked at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Ill., and at various locations in Russellville and Haleyville. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
She married Hershell Ralph Yocom, a Franklin County resident, on Oct. 23, 1938, and they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 2, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Jones and Rev. John Stancil officiating. The body will be placed at the church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include her treasured husband, Hershell, and her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Roger May, and daughter-in-law, Nellie Mitchell Riley; brother, William A. Champion; sisters, Lorene Harris and Willodean Jones; and a host of loving family and special friends.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gertrude Johnson Champion; father, William Robert Champion; son, Jerry Dewayne Yocom; grandson, Timothy Dewayne Yocom; sister, Geneva Champion Harris; and brother, Arvil Champion.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Beulah Baptist Church General Fund, Russellville, Ala.
