Jerry L. Scott

Jerry L. Scott, 64, of Corinth, Miss., passed away on Feb. 17, 2008 at Magnolia Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 30, 1943, in Franklin County to Hubert and Nova Baggett Scott. He was a truck driver for more than 40 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Scott, his mother and his grandparents.
A graveside service was held at Roland Mills Cemetery on Feb. 18, 2008, with Bro. Billy Credille officiating.
Mr. Scott is survived by his father, Hubert Scott (Lera), of Red Bay; three sons, Kenneth Scott, of Dorsey, Miss., Michael Scott and Tim Scott, both of Fulton, Miss.; one daughter, Kathy Scott, of Fulton, Miss.; one sister, Sunny Holland, of Golden Miss.; one brother, Ray Scott, of Memphis, Tenn.; one step-daughter, Angela Elam (Frankie), of Corinth, Miss; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Waymon L. Wallace

Waymon Lavon Wallace, 69, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at North Mississippi Medical Center.
He was born on Nov. 10, 1938, in Lawrence County to James Rufus and Nellie Pauline Burden Wallace. He was a police officer for the cities of Red Bay and Moulton and a Lawrence County sheriff's deputy.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 21, 2008, at Friendship Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Nichols officiating. He was buried in the Red Bay City Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Wallace, of Golden Miss.; three sons, Waymon Wallace (Phyllis), of Moulton, Jackie Wallace (Rita), of Trinity, and David Grimes, Jr., (Tonia), of Lebanon, Tenn.; one daughter, Dana Nichols (Michael), of Red Bay; three brothers, Eugene Wallace, of Maynard, Mass., Charles Wallace, of Waynesboro, Pa., and Jimmy Wallace, of Decatur; one sister, Doris Harkrider, of Decatur; 15 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
Pallbearers were Pete Elrod, Charlie Hicks, Jackie Hicks, Hollis Hicks, Jonathan Wallace and Joshua Wallace. Honorary pallbearers were Anthony Gibson and Darrel Little.
James H. Barker

James H. Barker, 78, of Red Bay, died on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
He was born on April 27, 1929, in Vina to James and Mattie Kidd Barker. He worked as an assembler at Daybrite Lighting, was a member of the Church of Christ and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Barker, his parents and a son, Keith Barker.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tom Scott officiating. He was buried in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Altom (Mike), of Tupelo, Miss., and Lesia Barker, of Corinth, Miss.; one sister, Margaret Lips, of Augusta, Ga.; one brother, Buddy Barker, of Vina; seven grandchildren, Derrick Gasaway, Matt Gasaway, Kim Hacker, Bridget Whitaker, Michael Altom, Melissa Earp and Meagan Robinson; 12 great-grandchildren, Chelsey Hacker, Zack Hacker, Hannah Gasaway, Jonathan Whitaker, Devon Whitaker, Tyler Whitaker, Gavin Earp, Garren Earp, Gage Earp, Eli Robinson, Michaela Robinson and Anna Belle Robinson.
Pallbearers were Hayes Altom, Matthew Gasaway, Wayne Parrish, Joey Whitaker, Scotty Gasaway and Michael Altom.
James N. Davis

James N. Davis, 89, of Red Bay, died on Feb. 18, 2008, at Red Bay Hospital.
He was born on Dec. 23, 1918, in Itawamba County, Miss., to Earl and Evie Nicks Davis. He was owner of a gas station for many years and a member of First Baptist Church, Red Bay. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Flora Ann Davis, and three brothers, J.R. Davis, Prince Davis and Russell Davis.
Funeral services were held on Feb. 20, 2008, at Deaton Funeral Home with Bro. Douglas Wells and Bro. Coye Marbutt officiating. He was buried in Red Bay City Cemetery.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Dezzie Davis, of Red Bay; two daughters, Ouida Hammock (Scotty) and Shirley Oliver (Mike), all of Red Bay; one son, Jerry N. Davis, of Red Bay; two brothers, Jack Davis, of Red Bay, and Billy Davis, of Zion, Ill.; three sisters, June Wood, of Red Bay, Mary Sue Long, of Hernando, Miss., and Jennie Cournoyer, of Miami, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Gina Raper, Tony Horton, Tammy Duncan, Pamela Bolding, Richard Hammock, Nicholas Davis and Chase Davis; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Richard Hammock, Tony Horton, Mike Oliver, Nicholas Davis, Byron Duncan and Tim Bolding. Chase Davis was an honorary pallbearer.
Inez P. Pugh

Inez Pounders Pugh, 87, of Spruce Pine, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 at Russellville Hospital.
Mrs. Pugh was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, Spruce Pine, with Jerome Sherrill and Marce Pounders officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
She is survived by children, Hoyt (Marjorie) Pounders, of Spruce Pine, Orbie (Lynda) Pounders, of Spruce Pine, Reba (Dwight) Lawler, of Tallapoosa, Ga., Jimmy (Vickie) Pounders, of Spruce Pine, Kathy (Jerry) Canida, of Spruce Pine; sister, Iris Ivee Roberts, of Phil Campbell; brother, Edward Welborn, of Phil Campbell; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews and a host of special friends.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde T. Pounders; son, Athel Pounders; parents, P. T. and Maggie Welborn; brothers, Clifton, Hubert, Lloyd and A. C. Welborn.
She was the most loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and sister. She dearly loved her family and was so proud of them. They truly loved her and feel so blessed to have had her loving, Christian influence on their lives. She will be greatly missed but we know she is rejoicing in Heaven.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Russellville Health Care.

Myrtis Marie Kelley, 83, of Haleyville, died Feb. 18 at her residence.
She was born in Winston County on Dec. 19, 1924, to Lawrence and Savannah Adair and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Funeral services were Feb. 21 at Pinkard Funeral Home with Luther Rye and Jason Adair officiating. She was buried in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
She is survived by her children, Terry Gravitt, Roger Adair and Donnie Adair; sisters, Elner Jones, Eular Moore, Lola Faye Ward, Nancy Cannada and Barbara Clark; grandchildren, Bubba Gravitt, Jeff Adair, Jason Adair, Brandy Gravitt, Mandy Phillips, Dillon Adair and Kody Adair; great-grandchildren, Kaylin Gravitt, Kandice Adair, Andrew Adair, Brody Gravitt and Reagan Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Kelley; parents, Lawrence and Savannah Adair; stepmother, Pearl Adair; brothers, David, Bob, Orbajean, L.Z. "Peanut" Adair; sisters, Verdie Walker and Bonnie Adair; granddaughters, Connie Gravitt and Dawn Michelle Cockrell.
Broderick J. White

Broderick J. White, 54, of Bear Creek, passed away Feb. 17 at Russellville Hospital.
He was born in Trenton, Mich.
Funeral services were Feb. 20 at Pinkard Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Marbutt officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Marbutt White, of Haleyville; sons, Brad, Josh and Matt White; mother, Sarah Francis White; sister, Phyllis Schrader and husband, Donnie; brother, Ray White and wife, Susan; two nephews, three nieces and one great nephew as well as a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Becky Chandler White, and his father, Rayford White.
Varina H. Franks

Varina H. Franks, 69, of Guin, died Feb. 21, 2008, at her residence.
She was born in Phil Campbell to Sales Pearce and Eva Belle Shermna Allman.
She had lived in Guin most of her life and was a member of Guin First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Guin Garden Club, Dorcas Study Club and a volunteer for Santa's Workshop.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Franks, of Guin; three daughters, Jennifer Hargett, of Birmingham, Myra Schofield, of Pensacola, Fla., and Janet Spicer, of Niceville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Malea Shannon Spicer and Cole Austin Spicer; and a sister, Eva Bell Endert, of Crescent, Calif.

Glen Moore, 64, of Russellville, died Feb. 21, 2008.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008, at Akins Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Boyles officiating. He will be buried in Franklin Memory Gardens.
He is survived by his wife of four years, Sandra Moore, of Russellville; daughters, Annette Williams and husband, Timmy, of Russellville, and Darlene Richey, of Russellville; brothers, Howard Moore and wife, Doris, of Russellville, and Randall Moore and wife, Betty, of Tuscumbia; grandchildren, Jessica Richey, Corey Williams and Cortny Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Viola Moore.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Poss, Tommy Harbin, Jamie Richey, Corey Williams, Jack Williams and Brandon Moore.
