J.D. Wilson

J.D. Wilson, 68, of Bloomfield, Ind. passed away at Bloomington Hospital on Friday evening, February 8, 2008.
He was born in Russellville to Bryant Wilson and Ethel (Welch) Wilson on August 18, 1939. He was a Shipping Coordinator for CP Hall for 36 years and retired in 2001.
J.D. was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and devoted his life to his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Charlene (Snyder) Wilson of Bloomfield, IN; daughter, Donna Poole (John) of Worthington, IN; grandson's, Jason Fishel of Newberry, IN and Vince Cecil of Vincennes, IN; sister, Carolyn Sue Hutchinson of Tishomingo, MS; brothers, Walter Wilson and Johnny Wilson both of Russellville, AL; several nieces and nephews, and several brother and sister-in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tammy Jean Wilson, and brother, Billy Charles Wilson.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at Whitaker Funeral Home in Gosport, Ind. at noon with Rev. Tommy Shields officiating the service. Burial is to follow at Gosport Cemetery. Friends may call upon the family Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
William Bob Murray

William Bob Murray, 60, of Tuscumbia, passed away Feb. 11.
The 11 a.m. graveside service will be held at Tharptown Cemetery Feb. 13.
Pallbearers will be Chris Murray, Jon South, Rickey Murray, Ronnie Gouch, Reynolds Craig, Charles Murray, Sim Mims and Michael Murray.
He is survived by his wife, Corba Murray; daughters, Angie Short and Stacey Murray; five grandchildren a host of nieces and nephews.
L. A. Murphy, Jr.

The funeral for L. A. Murphy, Jr. will be Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Russellville, with Rev. Alan Beasley and Rev. Clinton Busler officiating. The family will receive friends in the First United Methodist Church Parlor from noon to 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Franklin Memory Gardens. Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville is assisting the family.
Mr. Murphy, 81 died peacefully Feb. 11 at the Hanceville Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Alonzo Andrew and Icie Belle Murphy of Sulligent, Alabama. He graduated from Sulligent High School where he met and married his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Gilmer Murphy. In 1944, Mr. Murphy joined the Army and was honorably discharged two years later. Upon returning from his military service, the Murphy's attended Florence State Teachers College and graduated from Auburn University in 1950. In 1952, they moved to Russellville and lived there 54 years until moving to be closer to their family in Cullman, Alabama in 2007.
Mr. Murphy worked for Continental Grain as a salesman and retired after 30 years of service in 1982. He also worked as the Franklin County Coordinator for the Fob James Gubernatorial Campaign in the late 1970's. Following his retirement, he served as a member and Chairman of the Russellville Utilities Board until 1999. He was a member of the Russellville Lions Club, Civitan Club, Auburn Alumni Association and a longtime member of First United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was currently a member of Cullman First Methodist Church and Wesley Sunday School Class.
Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife, Dorothy Gilmer Murphy, Cullman, three children, Malinda Murphy Windham and husband Greg, Cullman, Tom Murphy and wife Kris, Athens, Alan Murphy and wife Kim, Arab; six grandchildren, Andrew Windham, Jason Windham, Beth Windham Collins, Andrew Murphy, William Murphy, and Thomas Lynn Murphy; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Gaylor Edgeworth, Tallahassee, Florida, and Jewel Haney, Eufala, Alabama, and brother, James Murphy and wife Sara, Tallahassee, Florida.
Pallbearers will be B. J. Kelley, Lanny Norris, Steve Bendall, Bill Witt, Danny McDowell, Joe Pride, Steve DeFoor and Dr. Robert Clemmons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Russellville Building Fund, the Alzheimer's Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871 or your favorite charity.
William (Billy) Berry Robison

William (Billy) Berry Robison, 79 of Russellville, Alabama passed away Feb. 11 at his home.
Mr. Robison was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. He was a member and deacon of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was church clerk for 45 years. He was Sunday school teacher and Boy Scout leader for several years. He retired from Alabama Limestone in Russellville with over 30 years of service.
Funeral service will be Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville with Matthew Payne and Willard Saint officiating. Burial will follow in Knights of Pythias Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m.
Survivors include wife, Betty Rogers Robison, Russellville, Alabama; children, William Berry Robison, Jr. and wife, Kellie, Chattanooga, TN; Cynthia Jill Robison Adams and husband, Lee, Russellville, AL; grandchildren, William (Will) Berry Robison, III, Randi Nicole Robison; brother, Jerry Robison and wife, Mary Etta, Decatur, AL; sisters-in-law, Willodean Hester, Elsie Tingle; brother-in-law, Rogers Hester; nephews and nieces, Sam Gaston, Wade Gaston, Alan Hester, Fonda Craig, Phil Robison, Jan Wones, Vicki McCollough.
Pallbearers will be Timmy James, Jeffery James, Justin Bond, Charles Jackson, Randy Hester and Billy Fuller.
Honorary bearers will be Jack Colglazier and Faye Boyd.
He was preceded in death by parents, Copeland and Beatrice Robison; brothers, Buddy and Bobby Robison.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 1425 Highway 48, Russellville, AL 35654.
