Program good for Franklin County
By Staff
There is a place in Franklin County that many people may not know about.
At least not county residents, anyway.
Word of this place, however, is spreading around the world and more and more people are coming to the county because of it. The Alabama Center for Advanced Woodworking Technology on the Northwest-Shoals Community College campus in Phil Campbell attracts visitors from all over the world who come to learn ideas on taking care of and producing wood products.
The center's mission is to facilitate the growth and development of Alabama's secondary wood processing industries by providing training that will help build a modern manufacturing workplace; assist companies in becoming and remaining internationally competitive; and promoting environmentally sound processing technologies.
In order to complete this mission, the center brings in experts in the woodworking field to present classes and seminars to solve problems in the woodworking industry.
Those people come to our county to learn something they can't find just anywhere.
It is a compliment to the people of the ACAWT that they are the teachers and leaders of this global industry.
