No. 5 Red Bay swats Hatton

RED BAY – The fifth-ranked Red Bay girls collected their 20th win with a 65-50 victory over Hatton Tuesday.
Red Bay led by only three points after the first quarter, but the Lady Tigers used a 25-17 in the second to take an 11-point lead at halftime.
Chelsey McWilliams scored a game-high 24 points, while Morgan Duncan had 18 and Kirsten Sharp and Aimee Jackson each added six points.
Emily Shelton tossed in 18 points, and Kayla Burden finished with 11 for the Lady Hornets (22-6).
The top-seeded Red Bay girls will play the winner of the Phil Campbell-Mars Hill game Saturday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Class 2A, Area 16 championship game.

The Red Bay boys fell 63-49 to Hatton Tuesday despite a game-high 20 points from Grant Fancher.
The Tigers led 31-30 at halftime but Hatton buzzed back in the third quarter with a 22-6 run that provided some breahting room for the Hornets.
Cody Tucker added 13 points for Red Bay, and Derrick Miller finished with seven.
Darren Hand scored 19 points, while Caleb Hatton finished with 12.
The fourth-seeded Red Bay boys will play at No. 1 Mars Hill tonight at 6 p.m in the second round of the Class 2A, Area 16. The winner will advance to the championship game Monday at 7 p.m.
